Hadn't had a call by 10 am so rang and spoke to a different vet, who was very brisk and said Tess was in pain, had not been standing or moving and had not eaten anything, so she was not sure why the other vet had said that. Other vet is now on hols for a week and I can't speak to him. I tried to get to the bottom of it but I just really felt like she was pushing me to pts I asked her to increase the medication so Tess was pain free while I talked it over with OH and she said it would take 24 hours to kick in, but when we went to see Tess an hour later she didn't seem to be in pain. She was so pleased to see us it made me all over again. She's lying on her side on pillows but was lifting her head for strokes and ate a whole chicken breast in bits. She also lifted her front paws without any problems. Vet says she was concerned that she is thin - well, she's a lurcher, she's built like that. And that she's weak, but surely if she's not eating she will be weak? She's weeing while she's lying down and the vet said she doesn't know if she 'knows' she's going. But I'm thinking that if Tess thinks it will hurt to stand, then she won't try. I know it's a difficult conversation to have with an owner but I just wasn't happy at all with this vet. We are going to see Tess again tomorrow and as long as they can keep her pain free I am holding out for the specialist, who first saw Tess when she went in, to be back on Monday before we give up on her.
