Hi From Us.......

Hello to all old friends, I was just passing by and thought that I would pop in and see who's still around on the forum. There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to peruse the forums these days but from time to time I do like to catch up on how everybody is doing.

Here the the dogs are adapting well to a crawling baby and I'm very proud of them. They all have difficult backgrounds and I am very careful to make sure that all of their needs are still met but actually they seem to take the life-change in their stride. My daughter is now thirteen months old and is very gentle with the dogs..though I am of course very vigilant.

For those that do not know or remember my dogs, here are a few pictures...

This is Emily, my elderly blind Pomeranian, in the garden with Jayanna (with Maddie, evil cat, in the background)

Here is Annie the Staffy, firstly with Jayanna and then with Oliver the dopey cat...

Obviously Annie is as big a softie as she has always been..but sadly she is slowing down and starting to show signs of age. She is only around 7 or 8 but she was thrown from a car at 6 months old and has now developed arthritis as a result of the injuries sustained :( .

Those of you that remember Diddy, formerly known as Damien  , would be amazed to see how tolerant he is of the baby. I have been working on his winter wardrobe for this year as he is shivering already when the sun goes behind a cloud lol. He is still my little man and unrecognisable as the aggressive little s*d that he once was. Not sure if Catherine is still around the forums but if she is she'd be proud of him!

Superdiddy!

Ready for the festive season..

and just to tell the world how much his mummy loves him

Tyler the Brittany Spaniel, who is an ex oldies club boy is still around but sadly news for him is not so good. He had a heart murmur when I adopted him two years ago but it has now developed into the beginnings of heart failure :( . He is on four lots of medication a day and should be taking life easy...some chance!! He still runs around like a nutter and there is nothing I can do to stop him. I hope he will be around for many months to come as we all love the very bones of him.

And last but not least is little Kodie Joe the Daxi. He is a proper little old man now...he recently had a lot of teeth extracted so his little face is more drawn and elderly looking. Touch wood, his back has been working fine but he has had a complicated eye complaint that has taken weeks to heal..fingers crossed we have it under control now though.

Here he is with Jayanna a couple of months ago..before the dental extractions...

I would love to hear from you all and find out how your canine friends are doing...

Hi Wellydoodle! Crikey, that's been aaages! :) Love your pictures, Jayanna is very lucky to grow up in a house full of dogs and a mum who understands them :flowers:

Not sure if you remember me at all, it's been a while. To start with the sad news first: I lost my Mal to cancer in May. I'm still totally cut up about it, he was my soul mate and I still miss him so much :mecry:

Kiera's changed from quite a difficult teenager (with a mum who didn't have a clue, I admit ) to a cracking girl. We've been doing agility for the last year and she really is quite good at it - the greatest challenge is me guiding her right!

Then Sparky joined us in November last year. He was a mate's dog, whose "issues" became too much. He's coming along in leaps and bounds and especially his recall is out of this world! Best thing though: him and Kiera are getting on so well, they really are bezzie mates   It's taken a few years but Kiera finally has a playmate who plays as rough as she does and wants to play almost as often as she does :)

That's us in a nutshell really, keep in touch! :wavey:

Hi Billymalc, of course I remember you. I'm so sorry to hear about Mal, he was a beautiful boy. I still very much miss Wally and pictures of him still have the power to bring a lump to my throat...he would have loved Jayanna as he preferred kids to adults.

I can't see your pic tho :mecry: .....

Hello Kelly :wavey:

Lovely to hear from you, your little girl looks lovely   and it sounds as though your dogs are all being very good with her. Loving Diddy's outfits - and the name change

Sorry to hear Tyler isn't doing so well, hope he continues to enjoy life for a while yet :flowers: Have you tried any supplements for Annie? Synflex (a liquid that goes on their food) is a good one that was recommended to me by Alex on here.

We're all ok here. Our youngest, Minnie-Moo is 20 months now, can't believe how quickly time is going by :( My older dogs are now 10-11 but not yet prepared to admit they're anywhere near being "oldies"

Take care :flowers:

Hi Kelly Wellydoodle

It's Marian who transported Damien to you (and I think named him  ) fancy changing his name  I remember it was the first time I had ever transported a dog that tiny and he was sooo quiet, I stopped a couple of times to make sure he was OK as he was to small to get into my rear view mirror

After several years of being split up, finally got ex chucked out of the house in April last year, dear old Barney finally lost out to old age a year ago aged 16 and a bit, his body just couldn't keep going even though he was still game in his mind.

I've still got Dexter my dobie boy and a year ago we were joined by Fleur who is 6..........and I've got bunnies, guinea pigs, hamsters and ex batt hens as well. Just no men

Hello :wavey: It's lovely to hear from you :flowers:

I still have my five, though I came very close to losing Bumpy Max when his bone marrow stopped working towards the end of last year. They never did find out what caused it but after several blood transfusions to keep him going, it miraculously started working again and now he's better than ever. I don't know how long you've not been around for but he went blind some years ago. Here's my speshul bumpy boy

Milly has also been poorly recently. She had to have her front leg amputated a few weeks ago after an invasive tumour on her paw. The lymph node which drained that leg was also cancerous, so it's likely to have spread but for now she's done really well in adapting to having three legs and is back to bossing all the boys around, so I am hoping she's going to be around for a long time yet.

Here she is modelling her new lifejacket I bought her recently

Beau, Taffy and Timmy are same as ever and don't seem to be calming down with age at all

I'd not posted one, that might be why

Here's a recent one of my two hooligans:

As much as I'd like to, I still can't bear going through Mal's pictures, one day I'll post something nice on rainbow bridge for him :mecry: :mecry:

Aww, it's so lovely to hear from you all.

Thanks Ange I will try the synflex. It's so difficult with Annie because she still has so much energy and the only way to 'manage' her exuberance is to keep her knackered with lots of exercise. Mentally she needs the stimulation too as if not she will find her own 'entertainment' lol. It's also hard to get my head around her being an oldie as she is one of the very few dogs that I have taken on that aren't already geriatric when they came to me. I think she'll always be that six month old maniac that ate the lino off my kitchen floor and the plaster off my walls  . She really has turned out to be an excellent advert for the breed though. I live in a small coastal village where everyone knows everything about everyone and she has really educated the village on the breed as they all thought that Staffy's should be avoided at all costs. I guess it's tricky to be afraid of a dog that cuddles up to a cat and follows around a one year old baby looking adoringly at her lol.

merledogs your dogs are looking great, I didn't know Max had gone blind but if he's anything like Emily he will be astounding you daily on how well he's adapted. I made the mistake of looking at the Many Tears rescue site yesterday and there is a little blind cav on there that I would just love to take on....why do I look??

Marian, yes it was ALL your fault that Diddy is here lol.....thank you again, my life would be a lot duller without him! You are sounding very upbeat about your new life and I am pleased for you.

Billymalc, lovely pic thanks for posting it, they do look good together.

Thank you to everyone else who posted too, I will try to keep visiting..I have tried a couple of attempts before now to post this reply but the first time Tyler threw up on the carpet so I had to clean and the second time Jayanna switched off the pc whilst I was in mid sentence lol. Now off for a lovely long walk with four dogs and a pushchair around a village with very few footpaths...wish me luck!! lol
