  1. Aww, it's so lovely to hear from you all. Thanks Ange I will try the synflex. It's so difficult with Annie because she still has so much energy and the only way to 'manage' her exuberance is to keep her knackered with lots of exercise. Mentally she needs the stimulation too as if not she will find her own 'entertainment' lol. It's also hard to get my head around her being an oldie as she is one of the very few dogs that I have taken on that aren't already geriatric when they came to me. I think she'll always be that six month old maniac that ate the lino off my kitchen floor and the plaster off my walls . She really has turned out to be an excellent advert for the breed though. I live in a small coastal village where everyone knows everything about everyone and she has really educated the village on the breed as they all thought that Staffy's should be avoided at all costs. I guess it's tricky to be afraid of a dog that cuddles up to a cat and follows around a one year old baby looking adoringly at her lol. merledogs your dogs are looking great, I didn't know Max had gone blind but if he's anything like Emily he will be astounding you daily on how well he's adapted. I made the mistake of looking at the Many Tears rescue site yesterday and there is a little blind cav on there that I would just love to take on....why do I look?? Marian, yes it was ALL your fault that Diddy is here lol.....thank you again, my life would be a lot duller without him! You are sounding very upbeat about your new life and I am pleased for you. Billymalc, lovely pic thanks for posting it, they do look good together. Thank you to everyone else who posted too, I will try to keep visiting..I have tried a couple of attempts before now to post this reply but the first time Tyler threw up on the carpet so I had to clean and the second time Jayanna switched off the pc whilst I was in mid sentence lol. Now off for a lovely long walk with four dogs and a pushchair around a village with very few footpaths...wish me luck!! lol
  2. Hi Billymalc, of course I remember you. I'm so sorry to hear about Mal, he was a beautiful boy. I still very much miss Wally and pictures of him still have the power to bring a lump to my throat...he would have loved Jayanna as he preferred kids to adults. I can't see your pic tho .....
  3. Hello to all old friends, I was just passing by and thought that I would pop in and see who's still around on the forum. There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to peruse the forums these days but from time to time I do like to catch up on how everybody is doing. Here the the dogs are adapting well to a crawling baby and I'm very proud of them. They all have difficult backgrounds and I am very careful to make sure that all of their needs are still met but actually they seem to take the life-change in their stride. My daughter is now thirteen months old and is very gentle with the dogs..though I am of course very vigilant. For those that do not know or remember my dogs, here are a few pictures... This is Emily, my elderly blind Pomeranian, in the garden with Jayanna (with Maddie, evil cat, in the background) Here is Annie the Staffy, firstly with Jayanna and then with Oliver the dopey cat... Obviously Annie is as big a softie as she has always been..but sadly she is slowing down and starting to show signs of age. She is only around 7 or 8 but she was thrown from a car at 6 months old and has now developed arthritis as a result of the injuries sustained . Those of you that remember Diddy, formerly known as Damien , would be amazed to see how tolerant he is of the baby. I have been working on his winter wardrobe for this year as he is shivering already when the sun goes behind a cloud lol. He is still my little man and unrecognisable as the aggressive little s*d that he once was. Not sure if Catherine is still around the forums but if she is she'd be proud of him! Superdiddy! Ready for the festive season.. and just to tell the world how much his mummy loves him Tyler the Brittany Spaniel, who is an ex oldies club boy is still around but sadly news for him is not so good. He had a heart murmur when I adopted him two years ago but it has now developed into the beginnings of heart failure . He is on four lots of medication a day and should be taking life easy...some chance!! He still runs around like a nutter and there is nothing I can do to stop him. I hope he will be around for many months to come as we all love the very bones of him. And last but not least is little Kodie Joe the Daxi. He is a proper little old man now...he recently had a lot of teeth extracted so his little face is more drawn and elderly looking. Touch wood, his back has been working fine but he has had a complicated eye complaint that has taken weeks to heal..fingers crossed we have it under control now though. Here he is with Jayanna a couple of months ago..before the dental extractions... I would love to hear from you all and find out how your canine friends are doing...
  4. This one is slightly closer but I'll upload more from the camera when I get a mo. Thank you for all the congrats Jacky I remember Rats he was a real poppet and marion.....you have a lot to answer for lol just kidding Diddy Damo is still the apple of my eye. The dogs are all taking the new arrival in their stride and are being very patient with me as I struggle to establish some kind of order and routine to the household.
  5. Thanks Cheryl, and thank you for the card Corinne delivered . Here's a piccie of my new daughter, Jayanna with her big brother and sister....
  6. Just wanted to add that I'm glad you all had a good time and its really lovely to see the oldies club still bringing people together. Really lovely to see Todd again too, he's looking a little whiter around the face but his coat looks amazing, nothing at all like the scabby stray found wandering in Ireland.
  7. Me too, I look at Daisy on the oldies site nearly every day and wonder if only.........
  8. Aww, thanks Ange and Patricia. She looks really well and Baxter is a beauty too . The kids loved the pics and they brought a lump to my throat (hormones ). Where in the world did Mitz's ears come from lol, she's such a poppet. I haven't told Diddy and Emily yet but they are going for very similar haircuts on Tuesday so that I can manage their coat maintenance better for the next few weeks.
  9. A couple more pics just because I'm enjoying a trip down memory lane.... Benny being exceptionally handsome Benny with Wal in a slightly more sensible mood Spot getting an Annie snog lol Spot getting accustomed to having scary scary cats around and Spot with a few friends
  10. Hi Marion, thank you but Eileen has pm'ed me and I will be doing my very best to be there...especially as Spot and Benny may well put in an appearance . Benny features in my very all time comic favourite picture of Wally, the expression on his face is of absolute bewilderment lol, would be thrilled to see him again. Both Spot and Benny were excellent houseguests and really opened my eyes to what fab pets trailies make.
  11. So sorry to hear about Tuppence Lorraine, he was a lovely boy and one of my very first fosters, though he wasn't here long at all and my madhouse was all a little too much for the sweet old thing. It is hard when you have a dog that doesn't socialise well with others but in time he may get better......wouldn't life be so simple if you could just sit them down and explain how much fun they could have if they would just behave a little differently lol. I'll look out for you in a couple of weeks...though don't think I'll be going far, only four weeks and two days til my due date..........
  12. Hi Patricia, Really lovely to hear from you. Little Mitz was the first dog I fostered from Ireland and me and the kids adored her. I can remember taing her to fund raise at carboot sales in her little red and black stripey jumper and she just spent the whole time flat on her back getting her belly rubbed. I also remember handing her over to the next leg of the transport run to you and crying my eyes out lol...it would have been so easy to have kept her. I will show the kids your message when they get home from school as they have never forgotten her. Don't spose there's any chance of some recent photo's........? xx Here's a pic I took of my lot on Saturday....
  13. Sarah, that would be great, I'd love to...just gotta get through the next few weeks first, feels like I am expanding by the hour lol. Cheryl, Callum and Carla are great kids and often here, we are in Happisburgh so the beach isn't far away but unfortunately I can only walk to the end of the road and back at the mo as my hip joints are not carrying me very far . my partner walks Annie and the kids walk Diddy the yorkie but the others will only go anywhere if I'm there so are just having to make do with the garden at the minute. I am surrounded by all this lovely countryside and practically housebound...it's very frustrating!
  14. Aww, glad I haven't been forgotten after all this time. Eileen, I will definitely try to make it to the traillie day in August, I assume it is at FAITH. I would love any news on Spot or Benny in particular as I had them with me and knew them best but also Nell and Glen updates as I think we all began to think they would never find the right home. Thank you for all the well wishes for the arrival of 'minidoodle'......don't mind admitting I'm pretty nervous. Reeeeally excited too but can't help wondering if I'll remember how to look after a baby again, it's been nine years since the last one after all!!
  15. Have found some pics in pc...a few months old but they still tell an accurate story lol... The man mad enough to take us all on with Ty and Maisie..... Damien (commonly known as Diddy these days as he is such a good boy now) ex Warrington boy but Catherine wouldn't recognise the spoilt yet soppy dog he is now......looking thrilled to model the new jumper I lovingly made for him. ...and again on the beach with Kodie-Joe the Daxi. The ever-lovely Annie, now about 6 years old and being very patient with the fact that at the present time I am unable to take her on the two hour runs that she has always enjoyed.... Emily-Lou, we think she's about eleven years old now and it never ceases to amaze me how well she copes with being blind....we still struggle..and fail to keep her weight down..... Penny the daxi, now aged sixteen, she has co-ordination problems with her back legs, a heart defect and breath that could kill a man at 100 paces but she does so well for her age..... And Tyler the Brittany Spaniel...also ex-Warrington boy and oldies club, I think he's now about twelve or thirteen. I could write a whole book on this dog and his quirks, he is peculiar, quite often stinks to high heaven as he makes a whole career out of finding things to role in but despite all this he can win over the hardest heart and has so much character that you just have to love the bones of him......
