Arran has fear aggression due to loads of things, he was chased several times when he was a pup by different dogs, he hated training classes ( hindsight is a great thing ), since he's been neutered he's gotten worse and any dog that runs up to him will be jumped on and he will growl or lunge at them. He is very rarely of lead, the only time he is is if the park is empty or if he's chasing his ball. He does have quite a few friends and he is fine with them, he is also fine with most dogs that just walk up to him. There are a few dogs that if they go near him he will have a pop at them no matter what they do. Jane ( celeste ) sent me a link for a company that she has heard good things about, I filled in an on line questionnaire about Arran and they have come back with a remedy that they have had good results with. I can't find out much about it and I know if I ask the company they will just tell me how good it is. So my question is has anybody ever heard of stuff called Nonaggress Plus and if you have was it any good. He also has travel sickness and they've suggested stuff for that as well. The Nonaggress stuff isn't expensive it's only £10.50 for 30 days supply and they think that that will be enough to help him.

Gracie was terrible with other dogs when she first came other owners letting their dogs run up to her when asked to call them didn't help. In fact one man thought it good to encourage his dog to run up to Gracie. Now she is wonderful with other dogs, greets them in a lovely kind way and the aggression has gone.

If Gracie can come round most dogs can, but there are the odd one or two that won't.

I used it a few years ago on my dalmatian who was fear aggressive but it didn't make any difference. Sorry.

Having had this problem for six years and reading lots I would recommend trying ttouch.

If you look at the find a practitioner page Tracy in Stirling is very nice. She has turned round her aggressive Bullmastiff.

Give Tracy a call and have a chat with her.

Thanks for the recommendation :)

I sometimes have the time to read posts on The Refuge but don't often post.

I would try the remedy that's been recommended. It may well help.

I'd also use TTouch. It's fabulous for helping dogs gain in confidence and also to help them have alternative ways of dealing with things.

I think it's an amazing thing. For all dogs.

I always say that TTouch and clicker training saved my dog aggressive bullmastiff. Those methods gave him back the joy in his life. He had always loved other dogs. The aggression was triggered by a hormone imbalance and he then became too anxious to be able to deal with other dogs. When he was dog aggressive he was miserable. Playing with other dogs and being around them was always a source of joy for him. And it is now - he becomes quite irritating if I don't find him enough other dogs to play with.

My friend has a shi tzu who used to be very difficult with other dogs. He'd run up to them and nip their legs. He had a couple of unpleasant experiences with other dogs as a puppy and never got over it. He loved the dogs he lived with but not other dogs.

My friend and I met when she e-mailed me asking about TTouch for her dog. The TTouch helped enough that we could have all 3 of her dogs mix with all my dogs. We can travel together and the dogs all get on well. There were still problems with strange dogs and my friend still tended to avoid them.

But she retrained last year as a dog groomer and now her dogs see lots of other dogs. Now that she has stopped avoiding other people's dogs, her problematic shi tzu is getting much better. She told me last week that he was playing nicely with a pair of bichon frises that she met on a walk.

Heree is a photo of her difficult shi tzu with my previously dog aggressive bullmastiff. At one time that would not have been possible. I would never have allowed Cal to be around a dog aggressive shi tzu - far too dangerous. They are fine together now.

I can't get the link to work for some reason.

Whats in it?

I personally wouldn't put all my hope on a 'potion' go back to some old training and bring his confidence back up. Walk and play with calmer dogs and see how much is more the other dogs being rude and not aggresive behavior.

I would love to do Ttouch with him, unfortunately he just needs to look at a car and he starts to throw up :( so getting him places is a nightmare. Raiye I've tried him with calmer dogs and he can be fine with them, if we meet them again he will for no reason decide he doesn't like them anymore and will take a pop at them. I don't know whats in the Nonaggress but it's homeopathic, I might give it a go and see if it helps him at only £10.50 if it doesn't work it's not a great loss.

Thanks for your suggestions I really appreciate them :GroupHug: .

I would be tempted to go back to the training classes, but go slowly and at his pace. I had a very shy little dog and took him to classes and he refused to put his feet on the floor!! Fine, I sat with him on my knee for a couple of weeks and let him watch. Then I carried him round the hall for weeks putting him down only for sits, downs etc. Everyone thought I was crazy but I couldn't have cared less. Eventually he was brave enough to walk round the hall, do the exercises and socialise with the other dogs, although it was a long road. The work I put in at the beginning paid off and I was always able to walk him off lead and know he was sound.

The popping other dogs while he is on the lead could be because you have removed his option of flight. Do you have any secure areas where he couldn't bolt onto a road if he got frightened? If you have then it might be an idea to try him there with a few dogs that he knows to see what he is like.

You could of course

TTouch practitioners will often come out to you - I don't know how far your nearest one is but it's worth asking? The book by Linda Tellington-Jones is really good - link - it's definitely worth having someone show you in person if you can arrange that but I think the book is great too :flowers:

What about if you put him in a little crate in the car and cover it, would that help? Has he always been sick in the car? Have you tried things like just sitting him in there, feeding him in there etc without actually driving anywhere? Must be difficult if he can't go anywhere in the car :(

I've never heard of the potion they're recommending for fear aggression but I'd definitely give T-touch a go.

Khan is travel sick and I asked the vet if they had anything which would help but not make hiim drowsy. They have given me some tablets called Travel Rite. You give one tablet about 20 mins before you travel and so far they've been wonderful although I do try to also travel him on an empty stomach. The tablets contain ginger which is supposed to help. :)
