Kats inc
It's why my parents got out pretty pronto in the mid 60's as the violence was getting so bad. It's got so much worse and I think they got out at the right time.
merledogs
Interesting article from a reporter who recently sneaked in as a tourist. Such a beautiful country, I visited many times during my childhood in the early seventies when my dad lived there. Hope that this despot can be killed or brought to justice soon
ReikiAnge
I was just reading the accounts from people voting/trying to vote in Zimbabwe on the BBC site: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7315339.stm
Jacobean
It's just distressing isn't it. They've also had police in the polling booths "helping" those that are voting.
Tisaann
Are you referring to Ian Smith or Mugabe, Tisaan? Mugabe

Nettie
Yes, but the people overseeing the election to make sure there isn't any 'cheating' has been set up by Mugabe, he'll be the winner even if he isn't really. The final numbers will be announced later on in the week.
merledogs
Well he seems to have lost the vote, despite his vote rigging. Question is, will he stand down? I can't see him going without a fight - question is have the people around him had enough or will they stay loyal to the end?

Kathyw
If only...............................what worries me is that he doesn't go gracefully and causes yet more bloodshed. And will they ever find the millions that have been plundered?
merledogs
It does sound positive but I'll believe it when I see it. If/when he does go, he'll retire to a friendly country where he'll live out his life in luxury until he dies. If justice was served, he'd be standing trial at the Hague

Sherlock Bones
Anyone know anything about the opposition? Bearing in mind Mugabe was apparently "fair" when first elected, is he better?
Kathyw
Looks like mugabe is out - lets hope he does the right thing and stands down and stays to help his country out of the poverty he pushed it into.
