Pingu
Mandy (amanda72) has no net access atm so cant post this herself. This morning she took Maddie and Mason out for their walk. The dogs decided they wanted to go a different way to normal and to be fair with dogs that strong Mandy decided that that would be a good idea too There was a ditch with a small steam running in it thats on the edge of the walk. Mason starts barking so Mandy goes over to see what hes barking at. There is an elderly Springer Spaniel stuck in the ditch. So she phones us and we go to meet her and see how we can help. anyhow this dog is very cold, covered in slime and mud, cateracts in both eyes, and is not a spring chicken. Mandy hasnt got a car with her so we put a cover on the back seat of our car and take him to the vets. At the vets hes dried off and we notice that his ears, bum , feathers etc have what can only be several months of matted fur clumped. The vet shaves them off his ears and bum and we have about 1/4 of a carrier bag full of matted fur. The dog isnt in a good way but is still very friendly and just lets us do what needs to be done. Hes under a heat lamp and has had a very much needed wash and feed. hes staying at the vets for a couple of days for observation and some TLC and then we will move him to kennels - assuming we can find one to take him that will be suitable given he will need a fair bit of TLC over the next few weeks. Where he was there was no way someone would chance upon him so without Mason finding him he probably would have died. So a huge well done to Mandy, Maddie and especially to Mason. Helly
I'll happily take him into my kennels. my head kennel hand Heather is excellent with TLC and has springers of her own. might even be able to convince her to take him home and foster him while you find his home or a new one. well done Mason
redditchlady
Well done all involved, especially Mason. Poor dog wouldn't have survived the night in there. Everything crossed for the poor doglet. Just thinking is it worth getting in touch with the Liverpool press. Kazz xx

lazydaisy
Well done everyone. I wonder how the dog ended up in such a sad state and stuck in a ditch? Maybe he had been "kicked out" Good luck to him recovering and finding a warm happy home
