sparkle
Since M&S have turned I need to change my policies, they are all under M&S and their policies have all increased by a third (even those which haven't had any claims! ) I need a policy which will do cover that still covers an illness year after year ... does anyone know any insurers which do this?! Rescuewoman
Personally from all my experiences I would still opt for Pet Plan. Can be expensive but worth it I thihk. And they do life time cover, and support a lot of the charities via their insurance scheme.
ReikiAnge
I'd take a look at AXA - they used to underwrite M&S before all the policy changes and have been mentioned in a few threads.
sparkle
On the phone to Animal Friends they are ok but blinking hell its all so expensive!!!
one.eyed.dog
Lottie is with More Than. £11 a month. £70 excess. I put her down as a wirehaired pointer x. Lucy was with them and I claimed thousands as he was so ill and never had any problems. Premiums went up to £25 a month when Lucy hit 8 years old. Lainey
I have 3 dogs insured with tesco on the extra policy, they are covered up to £4000 each per year in vet fees, with £60 excess and it costs me £31 per month In the past with another dog -she ate a cassette tape and it cost £665 for the op- Tesco paid out straight away. Then last year she became ill and diagnosed with Acute Leukaemia- i phoned them to tell them of potential claim, she died 5 days later at a cost of over £600, they gave me a courtesy call to offer sympathy and to inform me that payment had been sent out within 3weeks of them receiving the claim. My policy premium did not increase other than normal inflation. For me, Tesco insurance have been fantastic. They are friendly and helpful when you phone them and have been quick and helpful with 2 claims and they haven't penalised me for those claims
merledogs
If you do a search for insurance, there is a previous thread I started which makes some recommendations It is very important IMO that you do your homework in terms of comparing cover and prices (there are relatively few which are what I would term 'excellent' in terms of cover). A lot of the more commonly used ones did not offer life cover, but were relatively expensive. ETA linky to previous thread. Petplan are good but the excess is high and they are expensive. I went for Axa, excellent cover (lifelong) and they were also the cheapest. Edited January 11, 2008 by madmerle
sparkle
Thanks guys Not phoned Axa yet Alex, will do in a bit, work is busy Animal Friends people are the best so far, lifetime cover, and 100% of their net profits go to animal charities according to their website
Ramsey
Another vote for AXA Direct here Their cover is almost identical to the old M&S policy (that weve just left too) and a darn sight cheaper than the price hike we were offered with M&S
cycas
Axa are also a lot more efficient about processing the routine paperwork than M&S (who on one occasion took 3 months to send me my policy documents and forgot to take payment until I phoned to remind them). Az is with Tesco, and I also had a good experience when I claimed from them, though their policy covers less than the Axa one, if I remember correctly. dirtychicken
Ellie - I *think* Animal Friends are underwritten by E&L who lots of people have bad experiences with all round For what it's worth, I'll be moving Bear from M&S to AXA as soon as I can but Flora's stuck with M&S now
Spins4me
Mine are with More Than - I did a lot of research before choosing it - looked good to me. I have no experience of claiming - touch wood
celeste
I've also changed from M&S to AXA, as far as I could make out the cover is just the same
