Peachy
I like giving people pressies but then that applies all year round, not just Christmas. I get annoyed at people saying I shouldn't be on my own "because it's Christmas" - if they're that worried about me being on my own what about the other 364/5 days of the year??? Same. I love giving thought to presents and giving them out, whatever the time of year. I really don't like unwrapped cheap commercial rubbish that people give to me. This year, I am giving mostly 'giving' presents - fundraising gifts, donations, etc. That'll teach 'em. I also love spending time in my own house, with my dogs and cats, doing what I want to do. However, I have been told I am going to my parents house on Christmas Day (which is only round the corner) because if I don't go, it'll be just my Mum, Dad and Nan 'and that would just be like a normal Sunday afternoon'. Lucky me. I've also been told that I'm making the Christmas cake, Christmas pudding and the veggie alternative for the main. Why? My Nan isn't a big eater because she's nearly 87 (and she's the best thing ever!), my Dad has no sense of smell (therefore no sense of taste) and my Mum will just moan about it anyway because she likes bland, bland, bland My brother, SIL and niece will, no doubt, be at SILs parents and won't show. If I was at my house, the wine would be flowing. As I'll be at my parents, the lambrusco light will be poured sparingly because my Dad is tight and my Mum can't take her drink. Anything drier than lemonade is offensive to my Mum My Nan might sip on a Snowball if permitted. As if that's not enough, the deposit has been paid for a family meal out on Boxing Day. Yes, the same family with which I will have spent Christmas Day. HEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPP! Eating out? I repeat, my Nan has no appetite, my Dad has no sense of taste and my Mum eats bland stuff and complains about anything with flavour My family are scarily similar to the Royle Family My parents don't have broadband because....yeah, you guessed it, my Dad says it costs too much...so I can't take my laptop round there and escape to chat to you guys. When you see me online, you will know that I have made my excuses and come home. I've always wanted to do voluntary dog walking or help a rescue on Christmas Day. Now that's more like the meaning of Christmas. Last year, I took refuge at my Muslim friends house for a couple of hours in the morning. It was so nice to not have any pressure. I'm separated from a marriage so I'm seen as the odd one out in my family who needs sympathy, despite being the one who called an end to it. Oh how I dislike Christmas. I think I might feel different if I had children but I don't....so I don't

taylor
Dogs till 3 , work from 3 till 1115 I agree with whats been said earlier in this thread the commercialism we have to endure every year around this time pushes an ideal onto us thats just not normal and seems to be aimed to make people feel left out and therefore retail therapy shop ! My friend and I had christmas a couple of weeks ago , a long dog walk, a roast dinner (for the animals too) and a cry at "its a wonderful life" ... it was perfect and we didnt spend a penny ! all this glitter and hundreds of pounds worth of presents are simply needless .... bah humbug
