chickentikka
...........and also people who don't realise the following dogs is dogs, they do have selective deafness, 100% on recall is (I think) a myth - I'll settle for reliably comes back but I'm not a squirrel, normally friendly dogs can sometimes just take a dislike to one another and if they just have a grr it's not the end of the world, playbowing is not being aggressive, dogs can react differently on lead to off, and a dobies idea of playing is to try and get the other dogs head in its mouth he won't swallow (honest )
Sue B
Owners who give my dogs treats without asking - Daisy because she's overweight and Duncan because he NEVER forgets who gave him a treat and will be a pain every time he meets them in the future. Another of my pet hates. I don't mind Hugo having the odd treat but not every time someone meets him in the park and why do people not ask first? There is a particluarly arrogant dog walker in Regents Park who thinks he is such a wonder with dogs - all he does is dole out treats to any dog who comes by and of course they all come running when they see him. Any fool can bribe a dog with treats, that does not make him a savvy dog person in my book, quite the opposite. Leading nicely to my next gripe; people who let their dogs get grossly overweight - they are realy harming their dogs, its a form of cruelty
Jemimap
When they let their dogs run up to other dogs without knowing anything about the other dog(s), especially when they are on lead. After that, owners not picking up their own dog's sh1t. Exactly!
Abby
People who wave their dog's toys around in front of other dogs and then, when they've got my Dylan's attention they throw it for their fat lab and then get outraged when Dyl gets there first and nicks it. He gives it up to me like a lamb but I HATE that they do this. Even some of them round here when I ask them just to wait while we get past them, just turn around and throw it in the other direction, which makes no difference whatsoever. JACKYSIAN
Idiot farmers who drive around with their collies in the back of their open pick ups. When I walk passed with my 4 on lead (not fun at the best of times) these dogs kick off big time and even throw themselves out of the car and attack mine!!!! THEN the farmer has the gall to say 'oh those little staffy types are buggers for fighting arn't they!!! ' Oh yes owners who give my dogs treats!! Tiz is food aggressive and will attack your dog if it comes near because she now thinks she owns you!!!! And don't get me started on owners not understand doggy body language!!!! staffymad
Where do i start? I guess one of my biggest bug bears is that people automatically assume that bull breeds are agressive. When lynne and I go for walks with the red duo and Todd and any OC foster dog, everyone loves to stroke and snuggle Todd and foster dog but ignores the red duo even if Ruby does her hardest to get the attention by bum wriggling, throwing on the back for tummy rubs and smiling at them
cycas
Been thinking about this, and I don't think they do bug me really. Some of them do stuff with their dogs I wouldn't do, but then very likely I do stuff with my dogs they wouldn't do. Very rarely do I meet anyone who is behaving in a manner I could describe as really irresponsible or even annoying. I'd rather people picked up poo, but it doesn't bother me that much if I spot someone not doing it. I am sure that there is the odd occasion when I can't find one, or have my eyes on one dog and don't notice what the other one is up to in the bushes. I know it's a bit unpleasant, but, well it's only poo. I just can't get worked up about it. If it was on a sports field or somewhere like that I'd probably pick up any errant poo I spotted myself, but I don't think it would worry me that someone else hadn't. I'd be sort of compensating for those odd lost poos you just can't find... I'm usually more worried that my dogs will do something embarrassing/stupid/dangerous (eg, rush at an unfamiliar dog, panic and get lost, steal things from people's pockets) than worried about other people and their dogs. Their dogs are usually relatively slow and friendly, whereas my dogs are fast and bumptious and cheeky - so I'm more worried about what my dogs will do than what they will do. If that makes sense. My dogs' recall is better than most I think, but they also seem to have a much greater capacity for trouble than most other people's dogs I meet! Fat dogs are a bit sad I suppose. celeste
I think everyones already mentioned all my gripes, when I see off lead dogs coming I get mine to come off the path and sit, and does the other owner get their dog ? do they heck, no up trots the other dog and I'm left with two Staffies snapping at the end of their leash, I have trained them to sit quietly whilst other dogs walk past, but it all goes t*ts up if the other dog barges into them I would also add people who cycle with an off lead dog, wtf are they going to do when the above situation happens. I've also had to break up a few fights on my own, it's amazing how many men will just stand there and let a 5 ft 2 woman haul off their GSD
Kimbas_mum
All of the above!!! and a dobies idea of playing is to try and get the other dogs head in its mouth he won't swallow (honest ) I'm so pleased it's not just Kimba that does this - he has scared a few owners over the years - plus the fact that when saluki's play they growl a lot - they are not being aggressive - purely gobby!!!! sarbear
Owners letting their offlead & untrained dogs run up to mine even though mine are onlead. Rock is like that for a reason & i do the same with Amy out of politeness for other walkers. Summer walkers! Dogs need excersise all year round. Same as those who insist there dog is fine being walked miles in the boiling heat. Those who dont pick up poo. My biggest bugbear though is my sister in law She has treated her dog as a baby since the day she got it & if it was a child it would be labelled a brat. sarah
Laurel n Hardy
and especially Terrier owners. Pardon my list is people who don't pick up dog poop the few in my village who open the front door to let their dogs wander stating "oh it's allright, it won't go far", it not that effing far from the pavement to the road is it kn*bhead!!!! pig ignorant people who won't acknowledge a fellow dog walker and in particular one who crosses the road whenever another dog comes his way - shame as his SBT is a very freindly chap who doesn't get to socialise am sure there are others too but i foget them.
