My Precious Waw Oldie, Lily

Oh Claire,

I'm so sorry you didn't have longer with the beautiful Lily, :GroupHug: to you all.

Swift journey to the Bridge and all the playmates waiting for you there Lily

If it should be that I grow frail and weak

And pain should keep me from my sleep,

Then will you do what must be done,

For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.

You will be sad I understand,

But don't let grief then stay your hand,

For on this day, more than the rest,

Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years,

You wouldn't want me to suffer so.

When the time comes, please, let me go.

Take me to where my needs they'll tend,

Only, stay with me till the end

And hold me firm and speak to me

Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree

It is a kindness you do for me.

Although my tail its last has waved,

From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Don't grieve that it must be you

Who has to decide this thing to do;

We've been so close -- we two -- these years,

Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Just grabbing a few minutes while on line at a friends house down South. Was so very very sorry to hear this news Claire but you know that she has had comfort and love in her last days which would not otherwise have been.

Will give you a call tomorrow :GroupHug:

Any further news? Is Lily still enjoying sossijes and other treats?

She's still with us, but the fluid on her chest is coming back and she really doesn't want to do anything but sleep and eat sossijes (and nothing else will do, now  ). She's still clean, bless her, despite the diuretics - she gives a little squeak and we carry her over the scary laminate and the scary ceramic tiles into the garden - she does her business then comes back and waits for her lift back indoors

I've booked Martin to come out; he's the lovely vet who helped Swirly Merly and Donna to the bridge. He will be with us at some point tomorrow afternoon/evening. Tonight all the Squirrels are coming to say their goodbyes (Grandma Squigg fostered her for a while) and Gary and I will be with her when she passes over tomorrow.

Thank you, again, for all the wonderful messages. Somehow it helps knowing how many people cared about her :flowers:
