  1. A good news thread!! Marti (Smarti Marti) has settled in really well and seems to be very happy here. As Bejo mentioned, he has absolutely no fear so he escapes from his confinement (a room of his own, which he shares with Poppy, our Bengal) at will Currently I'm trying to protect him from some of our (less than cat friendly) dogs so it's not a great thing when he decides to play Houdini Anyway, now he thinks he's a grown up cat, here are a few pics: I did have a minor problem when my niece tried to sneak him home in her handbag on Christmas Day but I spotted Marti before he left the premises Anyway, after all the bad news I've posted recently, it's nice to have something good to talk about and, believe me, Marti is gorgeous
  2. I think I'm pushing my luck a bit cos it seems like I'm always asking for this but Tammy, my elderly cat, seems to be in trouble. She's been struggling a bit for a while now but the vet has checked her over and says she's ok - just a manky old cat Yesterday and today, she's had very acute diarrhoea and projectile vomiting and I think this may be the end of the road I'll get her an appointment at the vet tomorrow and we'll take it from there but if you can think a few good thoughts for her, it would be appreciated. This is Tammy (taken today) I promise I'll try to keep all my other animals safe, at least until January
  3. Sometimes I think this is the house of death It certainly feels like it at the moment. I think one of our neighbour's terriers has been on our land because I've just found a decapitated chicken at the boundary (not the way a fox would travel). Sadly it's one of my brown hens. Run free little girl, that terrier will not be happy if I get my hands on it. But, it might be happier than it's owner who will be getting a very angry talking to about sorting out his fencing so it can't get through here.
  4. I broke my big telly last night by dropping water into the back of it However, it has not stopped us having a memorable day My sister and her family arrived, together with another sister and we collected our Mum from hospital, where she's been for the last 3 months, to spend the day with us. We had a lovely meal and exchange of presents and it was one of the nicest Christmases ever
  5. Ticker; Rebel; Rebel II; Peter; Holly; Buster; Biffer; Hannah; unnamed baby daughter of Gemma; Shep; Sophie; Smokey; Bobby; Begbie and all of our sweet guinea pigs and bunnies, too numerous to mention individually here. I'll light a candle for you all tonight. Merry Christmas at the Bridge, our little ones
  6. Happy Christmas, everyone Wishing that all your dreams come true today I just need the stuff I've got in the oven to finish cooking and then I'm going to take Bobby's ashes (which I collected today) and wallow in self-pity for a while. It'll be ok though - he's home for Christmas
  7. Really, really pleased for you and Max Have a wonderful Christmas
  8. Having been through this only last week, I know exactly how you are feeling Loads and loads of positive thoughts sent for Polly and for you
  9. I'm so sorry Sleep tight, Bear
  10. Sending loads of positive thoughts for Sadie and her new Mum
  11. Wonderful news - that's really cheered me up Well done everyone
  12. Very sadly, we had to let Begbie go to the Bridge today. Sleep tight, lovely boy
  13. Poor Susie and poor you, what a horrible situation. Everything crossed that the stitches hold properly this time
  14. Thank you everyone for your good wishes. Begbie is still on the critical list and we're awaiting news. Currently we have no idea of the outcome but it doesn't look great Ange: This is a pic of Begbie as requested - Reiki would be much appreciated
  15. We found one of our lovely big tabby boys (Begbie) lying in the paddock this morning at around 7.30 am. At first we thought our dogs had hurt him but when we picked him up and rushed him to the vet it turns out he's been run over. Currently he's fighting for his life at the vet. He appears to be in renal failure (possibly an underlying condition brought on by the shock) because they're pumping him full of fluids but his bladder isn't full. He doesn't appear to have any broken bones and despite xrays and scans, the vet is struggling to find out why he's still deteriorating. So if you can spare any positive healing thoughts, I'm sure Begbie would appreciate them
  16. Just finished - roast beef, yorkshire puds, roast potatoes, spinach, courgettes and gravy. It was delicious
  17. Lovely to see 2 gorgeous guineas who will enjoy each other's company. Welcome Ferro
  18. Chris Hoy imo, a true inspiration for others edited because it would be handy if I could get his name right
  19. Really pleased to hear he's home with you now.
  20. Alex Here's hoping that Max comes home very soon.
  21. No idea Ange, you'd have to ask the KC. However, these exhibitors have to qualify to enter Crufts - so presumably in law they could charge the costs of entry fees, travel etc. I'm not a lawyer but I'm sure that if they have fulfilled the rules of the competition, if their entry were to be subsequently refused due to a change in the rules, I'm sure they'd have some rights.
  22. Interesting - the KC dropped the BBC rather than the other way round because the BBC insisted that certain breeds could not compete if they were to televise it. On the basis that the KC has a 'contract' with exhibitors who have qualified their dogs, they wouldn't appear to have had much choice. Wonder whether the BBC's contract is still in force or whether one of the Sky channels will pick it up.
  23. I've read Muppet's post, BRILLIANT
