    Fantastic! Welcome home Josie
  3. Marge I'm so pleased for you and hope it works out well. Dennis is exactly the same with water. WHY would anyone want to go in i? it's WET for goodness sake, you'll MELT!!! Jack is bloody gorgeous and looks great with Cherry. Well done.
  4. Oh ffs. I despair, I really do.
  5. He's 8 months old Billy. Born on 11/03/09. I've got his KC registration. His previous owners had him at 8 weeks and left him for up to 14 hours a day. Their postman persuaded them to hand him to rescue. According to his handover form he's houstrained [certainly seems to be apart from two accidents when I didn't realise he was telling me he needed to go], has lived with kids [seems to love all people so far] is used to dogs[ yes but has no idea how to play]. He's responding to his new name and loves toys so I'm hoping he'll be responsive to training. Wolfs down his food and is setles in the crate at bedtime. I luff him already [but then he's not eaten the house yet lol]
  6. After losing the foodog in April I promised the kids that the next dog would be younger [and hopefully healthy]. None of us could cope with the loss of another oldie. After several months of looking in various rescues, I finally met Alfie last weekend. After a successful homecheck earlier in the week, I was able to collect him on Friday. Please say hello and wish us many happy years with our beautiful boy. Alfie is fab with other dogs and is here with Casper [who you've seen before], Rebel and Sparky [police dog puppy and a little s***!] Dennis is at Michaels this week as I've had Casper and he's too boingy for Dennis but Alfie has met Den and gets on like a house on fire with him.

Ello fugeefolks. I haven't been on here for aggggessssssssssssssss. but had to tell you this... I've been homechecked today and will be picking up a new dog on Friday. He's the complete opposite of what I went looking for and its a breed I've never had [am currently reading up like mad] but he's gorgeous and young and healthy and bluddy lovely. We're currently arguing over names [his name now is Samson but he doesn't suit it at all] Other names in the pot are Alfie [i'm not keen, kids like it] Eddie, Zack [again I dont like this but kids do]and of course............................... Dave [mine and Sams fave but Ellis hates] Samueal has come up with plenty including Norman, Pete, Phil and Carl. Um. I really hope all fugees have been ok. Missed you all loads but have been really busy with DNB, work and life in general.

    Help Please

Will she be breast feeding? I really appreciated a bag of stuff like nipple cream, breast pads, bath oils, moisturisers, Bio Oil etc. Or a nice piece of jewellery to mark the birth [i got a really nice silver bangle]
  10. The DDA isn't under review. Several individuals and organisations have put forward proposals for a new act but none have been seriously considered. Poor dog and stupid people. Again.

    Bob

Bob my wild but beautiful ginger boy. What the hell happened? One minute you were eating breakfast, the next you were in the vets fighting and losing the battle for your life. We think someone put poison down either for rats or squirrels. Whatever it was, either Bob ate it or ate something that did, and now he's gone. So sudden and so devastating. Sidney, Cisco, Amber, Rosie, Boo, Pepe and the wonderful Foodog will meet you. Night night precious xxx

    2010 Calendars

I have calendars. 40 of them! Front page piccie here http://www.therefuge.org.uk/forums/uploads/1250444365/gallery_6_2_63742.jpg Ok. The calendars cost £5 [plus £2 p&p] The total profit of £5 will go to Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. Calendars start in Nov 2009 and feature nov/dec on the first page. After which there is one month per page. Calendars are A3 in size and feature a large picture of the dog at play plus a smaller pic of the dog working. In 1917 the first guide dogs were trained to lead soldiers who had been blinded in world war 1. The Guide Digs for the Blind Association is the worlds largest breeder and tainer of working dogs. Thanks to the work of dedicated staff and volunteers, some 21,000 blind and partially sighted people have experienced the independence that a guide dog can bring. www.guidedogs.org.uk Inspector Neil Davies of Merseyside Police Dog Section says: "Thankyou so much for buying our charity calendar 2010. We have been planning this for the past year and those involved have undertaken lots of unpaid work. Special thanks must go to our photographer, Steward Ellet and his wife Jan. I also want to thank all of our sponsrs who have funded the cots of produsing the valendar, which has meant that all proceeds will go to our chosen charity." I'm helping to sell these calendars on behalf of the charity. Sadly due to my own personal financial circumstances I cannot ocover the cost of p&p [£2] but the entire cost of the calendar will go to the charity. If you'd like to order one [and please please do lol], paypal your dosh to [email protected] with your address and I'll get one out to you asap. They really are very nice and the dogs are mega cute! Steward Ellet is a wildlife and pet photographer. You can see more of his work at www.eyesofthewild.co.uk
  14. Merseyside Police have produced calendars featuring police dogs at work and play. The scant information have is that this will be a 13 month calendar starting in November 2009. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to Guide Dogs for the blind and the launch will coincide with National Guide Dogs week. I've been asked to distribute some of the calendars. Cost is £5 plus p&p [not sure what that is but no more than a couple of quid] No pcs or blurb as yet, I'm just getting in early! Will post more as and when I have it. If you'd be interested, bung your name down here and I'll update asap. From what I can gather, the focus is on the dogs being dogs and playing rather than working [but the ACC insisted they be shown in their usual role too]
  15. Mrs D, my thoughts are with you and yours. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Dad. Wishing you strength for friday. Love to you all Melps xxx

  17. Jan Stretch-Dyke is making me laugh. I know a bloke whose middle name is Benildus, poor sod.
  18. I like my name . I tend to only get called Melanie by official peeps, most people call me Mel or Melps [Jacqui Davies started that one!] I've only ever [personally] known one other Mel and she's here. We are known [by police mainly lol] as The Two Mels and refer to each other as "The other Mel" we were even introduced as The Two Mels at a conference. My middle name is Ann but Melanie Ann is only ever used if I'm in big trouble! I think the name came from a singer in the sixties. My sisters are called Julie and Tina Mary [she hated hers and changed it to Chris, which shes been known as for at least 30 years] One of my freinds is called Garri, short for Garamond. Her father was a printer and its apparantly the name of a font. I love her name but she hates it!
  19. I am so tired. It's my daughters 11th borthday today and last night we took her and 5 freinds for a meal and back to mine for a sleepover. Usually I'd have Trev to keep me sane but since he's gorn I had to manage a houseful of hyper 11 year old girls. Never ever again. Ever. They decided to stay awake all night [despite my protests] so today there are several irritable and unruly children in Long Eaton. I also have a mental whippet staying until Tuesday. She's lovely but VERY active. Thankfuly Dennis doesn't mind her. School starts again tomorrow [Yay!]
  20. Mary Mungo and Midge. Camberwick Green Trumpton. My absolute favourite cartoon was and still is Road Runner. Other faves, Thornbirds, Moonlighting, The Young ones [though I don't find that at all funny now] Moosley thats a great Ivor the engine sound effect lol
  21. Dennis hasn't drunk anything since he's been home [12.30 today] I'm hazarding a guess that cold water makes his mouth hurt so I've made him a cup of tea. He hasn't eaten either but did manage a smidgen of cream cheese with his antirobe in it.
