  1. Do you think you could take the weight on your forearms up to the cruck of your elbow? I am thinking along the lines of those canvas bath raisers. Could you manage to push something underneath her, would she oblige?
  2. It was explained to me as I remember ( and excuse if I have forgotten anything) Alzheimers can only be detected by a post mortem , (I declined ) and ctscans for this are still thought of as experimental; but they MAY show up other forms. You are not likely to have other forms when there is a strong presence of Alzheimers in the family already. Some of them can be detected by other methods. They do claim (depending on area ) that they are pretty quick to get them done these days as its one of the waiting lists they targetted . They use these mobile trailers scanners around here.
  3. Teddy Texas is on this at the moment; but not on its own or in large amounts. He gets very unhappy if his bowl is empty, even when he is not hungry, unless he his about to go out. So he gets a handful of some biscuit type complete food to see him through the night. As its dry it doesnt attract flies etc or go smelly if left. This is on top of his brown rice plus nature diet/first class. I am looking to see if it has effect on his itchy licky attacks. Its been a week ; his flatulence is not so noticeable, no other differencee yet except His breath is still good I think he likes it. He has always been rather partial to a sardine ( in small pieces please) On its own I think it would be a bit too rich for him being a bit sedate.
  4. I carry a spray of very dilute disinfectant, (Teddy doesnt always oblige with easy scoopables, espcially after eating cheese at night) It may not be the attcking dog's fault , but its the one that may need stopping quickly and a quick squirt oftens makes them switch to thinking about something else, and see the error of their ways. I know others might not condone such, but TT is very protective and while he will quite happily play with or submit to with any dog 10 ft away , he will inflict damage on any dog daft enough to have a go at him whilst he is close to me; so i see it as saving aggravation and bloodshed. I think there are certain circumstances when taking evasive action is the best thing all round.
  5. Sadly the poor dogs are so far down the list of anything that matters. The Farooq circle around Birmingham was allowed to continue unhindered for years because it was easily filtrated and seen to be a source for terrorist information. It was only when the terrorism investigation ws completed was it shut down ( how many dogs later) having produced nothing more useful than some links with the " Moslem Front" a teenage group of graffiti artists that try to drive dog walkers from local parks.
  6. If you are learning in a proper setup; you may not even get on a horse for the first lesson , which will cover most of your questions. If you are being taught by someone that once taught me and who is on this forum make sure you hat fits and that you are happy to be shouted at a lot.
  7. Photos now on TTs thread in doggy chat
  8. I was dragged into a case like this. I got legal advice........ yes the dog is no longer the property of the original owner...but the actual chip and the service associated with it is still theirs. Stupid I know.
  9. When doing legal stuff with the socially challenged, getting them to sign over a postage stamp often convinces them of legality.
  10. We spend a lot of money going to other peoples countries and messing things up and perhaps killing a few of them. Homo sapiens is now in payback mode with its debt to pets---they spent thousands of years helping us hunt for food and protecting us from the creatures of the night ( without starting holocaust or wars)---so now they can rest and do nowt they have earned it and deserve everything they get.
  11. If you do have to repair---white goods on the whole only differ from one another in small ways , its a bit like the badge engineering that british leyland used to practice, on some of the economy ones only the name and the shape of the knobs differed between models. Ok so if you have a Worthit one you need to do some tracking. the very nice people here My link are the one syou need to tals to ( after looking through the website) its also very useful for dealing with youfs in suits who tell porkies like " well we cant get the parts anymore "
  12. Had his own stall but gotfed up crept inside for a sleep Took immediate and complete control of his new kennel as soon as he saw it. Especially when Mum decided that she would cover the floor with thick fluffy dog beds ( They were so cheap in the next aisle)like the one he has at home. He didnt mind sharing with all of the humans especially as they cooked his very farourite sausages. TT forgot he was a wuss and took evrything in his stride---hot air ballons, airpane acrobatics , people shooting , marching bands, the fun fair next door, and various soaking wet humans shouting at one another...... but he was a bit naughty wil his leead wrapping it around the posts and with some baskets , but he claims it wasnt a good place for them to be anyway. oh and he can go again.
  13. Teddy Texas goes to the Fair. And is an all round star (tart)Spent a lot of the time peering over baskets and molesting anyone for an earrub and belly tickle. Was completely bemused by the goings on, saw lots of new dogs especially a nice chap named george. did a lot of looning about with the daft lad, took part in the celebrity poo competion, had lots of treats.Got fed up posing for photos Got very muddy paws
  14. I am running some tests on carpets and bedding cleaned with an ordinary mattress cleaner. I may have to tweak the UV range( not e ....they are stronger than hand wands) but so far its looking promising. I will report when finished.
  15. Thanks but Chatsworth was the last of the Summer .
  16. haddock,herring or just sardine?????????
  17. Teddy texas has one of these My link its the equivalent of offroaders. there room for him all of his gear and a patio cleaning machine. although at the moment he prefers to pull it rather than ride in it He loves pulling it although his steering is a bit wonky near trees.
  18. Oh thanks for the link. I could have done with some of these at Chatsworth over the weekend. We passed out a whole pile of Dog Lost cards from just one display.
  19. If you dont want to use chemicals, I have seen some good results with THIS as part of a programme
  20. A fogger that didn't contain insecticide would be a bit of a waste of time, except for the Black Cherry one which makes the whole house smell nice. Do not use Schooch type products if you have Woolmark content carpets that have been treated with 3m products, especially if you have smokers in the house, without consulting an expert and possibly your insurance company. Despite pressure this part of the testing was glossed over, like so many other plastic type emitters, the dark side of the new nano technology...eek. Its all really a question of intelligence. If as a nation we wouldnt insist on living in 21 st centrtury houses cleaned with 19th century methods, then we would not have to deal with evrything on a crisis basis. Many dog owners dont realise that there are fleas making a nice home in that outdated non hepa vacuum cleaner that they like to stir the dust up with now and then. But dont let me get on my bandwagon!!!!
  21. The Bob Martins is the only one I have used, mainly because of availibility locally rather than choice. Its a lot easier to use than some of the commercial ones. Its fairly good except, you have to be very careful about the size of the room . Also its important to vacuum thoroughly before and after as sometimes eggs in nooks and crannies can persist. Like wise deep pile carpets (I always carpet clean when doping a flea sweep) Effect on other critturs is minimal you cant count on them at all. If you want to get at bedbugs or busbugs ( tube bigs in London)as they are now called you need a stronger commercial ones, which have issues with bask spatter and need a foiled area a metre around them for safety These may kill off the current dust mites in a bedroom , but of course do nothing to remove the dust and debris they create. Mattresses need special vacuuming and UV treatment. To be really effective you need to turn off the central heating or air conditioning and stop any airflows that might interupt the fog. Put a mat up against the bottom of the door. Get one fore each room and try and do them all as close together as possible. If you live in a terrace its a very good idea to tell the neighbours who might want to join in, as fleas can fin dnooks and crannies and or the fog may also leek through , especially behind fire places in shared chimneys for some reason. Oh and make sure you dont leave anything in the room you might want. Do it on a nice sunny day when you can spend the couple of hours mowing the lawn. Then you will also get all of the clever ones who have gone sunbathing while waiting for the fog to clear.
  22. I am not sure. I have been involved in th euse of the captive boly gun in abattoirs and it does take a lot of skill to use properly on an animal that is clamped. (At one time it was the law that allmeat for human consumption swa killed this way, but now it is mostly done in a very cruel way with a knife, because of religious reasons enforced vi various supermarkets. It i still possible to find humane meat , but is very difficult, farm shops are often best but sometimes they are reliant on the locla abattoir.s system) It does take a lot of experience ie full time, to do it properly. I would like to see some research on the usagem training and design of the gun, but am convinced that the required restraint will put a dog into stress.
  23. Never mind it was just a thought. The organisers think they can sell the space at half price ( but still more than a grand) . Hope its not owt to do with hunting!!!

    Steroids

Teddy Texas has something similar. He has them all over he has quite delicate skin anyway which is being treated. They go crusty after a few days. having dismissed or annihilated evrything else., I have decided that the culprits are mosquitos.. A good clue being that I am also covered in them, as per usual at this time of year , especially if i am bit lax about standing or water in the garden, forget to spray or give in to temptation and have a sunny walk along the canal. Mine dont go crusty though but become a pimple. The cream I use has a threeday limit so i dont use it on TT but I do put E45 or Nivea on any bites he gets between his toes.
  25. Mr Boogie Box opposite turned out to be the reason for TT playing up when left. Poor dog has always had a bad time with thunder and fireworks. In Birmingham there are many religions which means on any given day one of them will be having a festival and firework show, although I dont see the point during daylight. Anyway a quick word with the DVLA about the lack of a certain round thing in the window and the offending item was away on the back of a lorry. TT is now quit ehappy be left longer and longer. Mr BB collects his dubious substance by bike and is much healthier. So everyone happy ( i didnt tell him it was me)
