Hi, I don't know what he is like with other cats as he has been an only pet, he has a catflap and goes in and out (I have fed him when my MIL was on holiday etc). Sorry that I don't have more info as this has all happened so suddenly.

We've changed names and it seems to work. We got our white husky from Freshfields and she was called Sheeba (couldn't think of a name for her and we were at a fun dog show and someone said "Tishka" (snowflake), it suited her and she seemed to like it. Our working sheepdog was called "JD" when we got him but we already had a dog called "Jade", tried lots of names then someone said "He's got merle in him" so we called him Merlin (which he answered to straight away). One of our huskies was called "Ben" in rescue, which he didn't answer to anyway, so we gave him an Inuit name Tikaani (wolf), which he seemed to like and responds to (and it suits him)

My mother in law has sadly died and her ginger tom cat George will be needing a new home. We would love to have him (and will do if need be) but we have four dogs and he is not used to dogs having been a companion cat with mum in law only. He is 10 years old (we think), a rich ginger colour, not a big cat and quite pretty,presumably neutered but I will have to go and see him and check and try to get a photo. He is in Southport and we can transport if a suitable home can be offered. If you can help please pm or email me.

It is the worst time of year for anything like this to happen, I am trying to be strong but am not, OH is too and he is a star having dropped off food & bedding for the animals today and even talked of having a foster dog over Christmas.

Thankyou everyone for your kind messages of support, I will show them to Bill when he feels ok to read them, the funeral is on Monday at 2pm, so please send positive thoughts, it would be very much appreciated. Following the church service is a burial, which is what Maureen wanted. Family will probably be staying here so any good thoughts are much needed, thakyou, Angie & Bill & family.

Thankyou everyone for your kind thoughts, I think I am in shock as it happened so quickly. Our collie Merlin will miss her, he thought the world of her. We have her Christmas presents here and I can't believe we won't see her again.

I spoke to three volunteers over the weekend, they are all shocked and upset, they were in urgent need of housing but have got crates now (thankfully the Christmas Fair last week did well so some funds were used.) The small dog and puppy unit has gone as well as the kitchen, they have no electricity but that should be sorted soon. They are in urgent need of bedding, blankets, fleeces, towels etc. If anyone can take to the shelter (or to one of the shops) or post that would be great. http://www.freshfieldsrescue.org.uk/ One of the volunteers put an appeal on Freecycle and lots of people have offered to help out but any offers of help would be appreciated too. I am posting on behalf of someone who's elderly father has lost his dog. Saba (Sabre) went missing from outside Morrisons in Southport yesterday Tuesday 17th in the morning. He spent all day out looking for him, can everyone please look out and contact if sighted, or if a neighbour has just aquired a similar dog? His son has contacted the animal wardens. Saba is male, tall slim build with an arched back, Any information please ring 07940 996881 or email [email protected] (or pm me and I will pass on). Please help get Saba back as his owner is distraught. Unfortunatley Saba is not chipped or tagged as far as we know, please crosspost and help keep a look out for him.
