If this is the program with Bill Bruce, the director of bye-laws and animal services in the city of Calgary (Canada) it is really worth watching. He has introduced a lot of bye- laws in Calgary to reduce the incidents of dogs biting. He always points out that all dogs can bite and does stick up a lot for the "dangerous breeds". He really is keen on responsible ownership and education. this is just a link to one of the many articles about him article

Congratulations, I am so pleased she is staying with you for good (I must admit she has been one of my favourite since the first time I saw her pic on the poundie list). She is one lucky girl. Welcome home Ellie

The figures in the US are atronomical, I think I heard somewhere there are 65,000,000 pets in the USA, 5000,000 in NY city alone.

Jo I've already tried to convince my mother that adopting this old boy would be good for my dad but she won't have it. I did send my dad (dad would've taken him home straight away but is MOTHER who has the final say) to see him though and he told me that the staff at the rescue recons he probably won't have more than a year to live. He is a cocker type dog. I am working on how to get him

One dog that I would love to have is Buster he reminds me so much of Bobby my first dog. I love Pippa too though, she is such a sweetie. but the one I have really fallen for is Amedeo. He is 15 years old half blind and deaf. He was found as a stray in Sept 2006. The only problem is that Amedeo is in Italy. .

Poor Sham give her a . Thankfully she is ok if a bit shocked. I know exactly how you feel. OH took Scruffy and 2 of the youngest out the other night. We have a neighbour with 2 dogs one is young retriever (very friendly and sweet) and the other is some sort of cross (he is chained up a lot and I never trusted him one bit) and the other night this dog attacked first Rocky and then Scruffy. Hubby had a few unpleasant words for the owner who never has her dogs under control
