  1. Have left a message to offer help Past information is that this was run on a profit more than a rescue if you get my meaning. They advertised for litters of puppies in the frre ads papers and charged for a dog to be taken in.They would even come up to the valleys picking up litters. Dogs Trust were working with them a couple of years ago with the free neutereing scheme and I haven't heard anything for a while. We have in the past taken in dogs that they have rehomed and been unwilling or unable to take back.
  2. Parking is best in the Co op and walk back to cafe. Thanks so much Louise for updating this. I have had an text from Doglost and need to get back to them. There have been no reported sightings the last couple of days which is a concern but she may be keeping herself out of sight. This is a brilliant idea. I don't think there are any clubs in the area but will check. We have been in contact with the police man who covers the area several times but again the dog handlers at Bridgend might be able to help.
  3. I think all we have is a collar and a blanket. Will post contact details later. Thank you so much.
  4. Last Monday an ex puppyfarm OES bitch managed to escape. The last week has been spent trying to track her and although there have been loads of sightings so far she has not been caught. FOARCT volunteers and locals have spent hours searching but we feel there is a need to bring in extra pairs of legs and eyes. She is very timid so catching her is going to be a hard one. Local people have been informed, the local hunt, dog warden, boarding kennels, police etc etc. Farmers who have land she may wander on to have also been informed and of course this is the middle of lambing but they have all promised not to be gun happy. Hundreds of flyers have been given out and there have been a large number of sightings. She was even seen sleeping on the doorstep at one farmhouse with their Rotti but scooted off as soon as she was seen. We need people living close enough who have free time and enjoy walking to help look around the areas she has been spotted in and next weekend we would like to organise searches on Saturday and Sunday (that is if she hasn't been caught). Just to add that someone has donated £100 as a reward for a sighting leading to her capture so that may help encourage locals

  11. Just wanted to thank Cindy for all her help in trying to catch Sophie our Lab who escaped at Magor Services this week. Cindy was so supportive and did a brilliant job helping to get this girl back safe and sound. Eileen
  12. Thank you for all the godd wishes. Sohie is safe and well. She had a full check at the vets and is non the worse for her ordeal. She was coming back to Wales to be seen by a specialist vet because we are concerned about her hips. A huge thank you to all who phones, searched and anything else. Cindy from the oldies was a star.
  13. We are a Welsh rescue and take a lot of ex puppy farm and ex breeding dogs. We also take puppies that have either failed to sell or have health issues. We never ever say no to these dogs as, has been said earlier, they would very likely end up dead. We don't pay for them and have only on one occasion handed money over for dogs and that was in a private home for two puppies that we could not turn our back on. The farmers who hand their dogs over are taking a risk. They don't have to do it and there is no commercial gain for them. Some farmers allow rescues on the farm and others meet at the side of the road or in laybys. There are farmers who have built a relationship with a rescue that will obtain dogs from other farmers for rehoming. These farmers often view dogs as another type of livestock and see nothing wrong in their methods. Considering the condition of some of the dogs when they come into rescue, what gives me nightmares are the ones who never come out. That are in farms that are unlicensed and who dispose of their dogs when they are no longer producing puppies or the litters are too small or the pups fade. We sometimes get flack for taking the dogs. If we don't they will die. The farmer will continue breeding and the dogs and pups will never have a chance of a home and love. The only thing that will stop it are changes to the law on breeding establishments and the sale of pups. In the meantime we do what we can in the background.
