Car Booters

I'm thinking of doing a car boot/table top sale at my local church for Oldies.I rarely go to them and have never done a stall before.I have a large amount of very good condition clothing (as well as other stuff) I can sell but have no idea of prices.I do know how much charity shops charge as I shop there often but think car boots are less?

Most of the stuff is Marks and Spencers.I would like to make it as simple as possible and as everything is pretty much the same condition/style thought I would do the following:-

Blouses 2.00

Jeans/skirts 3.50

Knitwear 3.00

Is that too high/low? Am guessing people haggle so could drop 50p but I don't want to give it away for nothing nor do I want to price too high that people don't stop to look.

Opinions from both sellers and buyers gratefully received

We regularly do outdoor car boots to raise money for our Cat Rescue group. We have lots of clothes that are donated so in varying condition and people do not want to pay much for them. You can always start off higher and gage the reaction of buyers then reduce the price if necessary. I think a lot depends on the condition of the clothes ours is not the best! :flowers:

Thanks folks. This is being held in local church - either car boot in usual style or table top indoors. It's only 2 hours so reckon I can manage that, really don't like car boots except as a socialisation venue for new dogs  I'll play it by ear and see what people are willing to pay - hopefully as 100% will go to OC they may be a bit more generous

It may depend where you are - I'm told that in North Cave for example (only about 15 / 20 miles from me but a more affluent area of the county) they are far less inclined to haggle than at some of the Hull ones. At these whatever price you start with many buyers do want everything for as near to nothing as they can get away with & will immediately try & cut you in half (or even a third. I've seen people griping at being asked for 50p for what appeared to be good quality baby clothes :glare: ). They seem to view it as like a foreign market, especially at the big sales where there is plenty of choice for them & some are daft enough to just give them what they want.

You often get dogs walking around with owners so hopefully if you have some good signage you may get some help from that. Good luck.
