Molly Basset

It has taken me some weeks to get around to doing this but our dear Molly left us on Nov 17th 2008. She had problems with a neurological illness for some time and eventually it overwhelmed her :(

Her back legs got very wobbly last Spring and we tried her in a cart which Jim C found for us and it gave her so much help and quality of life :)

Eventually her front legs collapsed and although she wanted to eat her head shaking was so bad she couldn't and she lost the ability to pick her food up so we couldn't let her go on any longer. Our lovely vet John came to the house and gave her peace :mecry:

She was just 14 and came to us when she was about 18 months old having been in a home where she had been treated badly which left mental scars with her. She was a great character but couldn't cope with having things done ie nails clipped, ears cleaned and we even had to muzzle her to groom her. She was so distrusting of everyone with things like that. I think she bit us all over the years but only through fear :(

Despite all that she was great with other dogs, with our cats and even with us so long as we didn't have to 'meddle' with her

We miss her so much because she had a huge personality and the place is so quiet without her typical Basset bark and her noisy Basset snores.

Molly you were a little  really but very much misunderstood in your early days.

A couple of pics of Molly in her younger days.
