Peachy
As I've recently taken on the role of Events Co-ordinator for Oldies Club, I was hoping you lovely people might be able to help me find my feet. To help me ensure the work of Oldies Club is promoted as far and wide as possible, we need to arrange some events. These events could be anywhere and everywhere. This is where your help is needed. If I am able to compile a list of supporters, who will be willing to spend a couple of hours manning a stall or lending a hand, then we'll know what type of events we can attend and what our coverage in a particular area is likely to be. There is a lot to be gained from helping out at events. You get to meet the people that you 'speak' to here. You can really enjoy being part of a worthwhile project. Your dogs make new friends and have another opportunity to be socialised. When I did my first Meet and Greet about eight years ago, I learned more about talking to complete strangers than I have ever learned in my day job. It can restore your faith in human kindness and you can find support in the most unlikely of places. It's good for the soul and it's fun If you think you would like to support Oldies Club, then please send me a PM. It won't be binding; I appreciate that people have lives and things come up but it would really help us by having knowledge of our support base. If you have friends or family who might also like to get involved, please let me know. We can't do it without your support, we really can't. buddyboy
Coventry council have Canine Capers in the Memorial Park in March (not got exact date to hand) - turnout can be very good if the weather is fine or minimal if it is bad...... year before last was sunny, last year was rain, so hopefully it will be sunny again this year. Stalls are £15 for the council one or £10 for your own stall. Dogs Trust near Kenilworth have their open day on July 18th this year. Turnout normally good whatever the weather. Donations for a stall. I will have stands at both for Pets as Therapy, if there is an Oldies Stall ask to be next door and I can try and keep an eye on it if you need to nip off for a while. Bronny
Hi Peachy I'm afraid I can't be much use to you as I have a 20 month old son who would not do well behind a stall (well he would perhaps enjoy it but it would be a nightmare for me LOL), even though I would love to have helped you. I often look at the Oldies website and think what a brilliant and worthwhile job you all do. Best of luck in your new role, perhaps in a few years time I can get back to you LOL! Peachy
Hi Bronny You can help Help doesn't only mean you have to be manning a stall. I'm trying to find out about local events. Anything like; New Pets At Home stores opening Dog shows and fun days Family events Country shows and fairs Charity events If you hear about anything or see any adverts in your local Press about events, please PM me or post something here. Any information is valuable to us because we may be able to attend, which will raise awareness to the work of Oldies Club, may be reach out to prospective foster homes and potentially raise funds for the ongoing work and vets bills. That's not saying we wouldn't love to see you and your little boy at an event some time
