Julie C
This is not a good photo but batteries died after just getting it. There is a small round slightly rough thingy on the inside of Harry's back leg. Could it be ringworm? If it is what do I need to do if anything? Is it contagious? Thank you. phoebejo
It's about the right size for ringworm. Is the inside of the ring quite smooth, normal, healthy looking skin?

It only feels slightly scabby but normal fur/skin in the middle.
bonniebird
It is contagious if it is ringworm and can be passed from animal to human and vice versa (zoonostic disease) as far as I remember. All I know is that if I get it as a groomer, I'm not allowed to groom until it go's
EGAR
Could also be a dry hotspot.
Katiebob
If it's ringworm, it's highly contagious and - yes - you can get it. The area is normally slightly raised? If you think it's possible, I'd get to the vet asap and then (boringly) you'll be into washing or destroying bedding etc.!
Rumpole
caneston works on ringworm its a fungal infection and glows greeny under ultra violet light (so if you have your light sabre handy ) tis contagious and can be caught by dogs from kids and vice versa its going around in a lot of schools at the mo

Julie C
Thank you all very much. I lost connection last night and only just got back on. I will phone the vets today and see what I have to do. He sleeps with me so if it is ringworm will I be sure to get it? Will I be best to wash his and my bedding? Why couldn't he just have got fleas like normal dogs.

eileen jones
Caught ringworm of my cats years ago. We were both treated with a fungal type cream. I think the one I had was also suitable for Athletes Foot. Soon cleared up but a bit of a pain.

Cheaper than the vet and can be used on people and doggies! Either canesten (clotrimazole) or daktarin (miconazole) cream which are used twice a day and for 7 sayd after the rash/ringworm has gone.
