Ian
I have now received a reply from Hull City Council, relevant part of which says The Lord Mayor's Gala will be held at East Park, from 13.00 - 18.00 on Saturday 16th June. It is organised by the Hull Civic Office, on 01482 615093. Hull Show is not a City Council event, and is no longer running. It was organised by the Hull Show group, on (01482) 315361. There are celebrations of William Wilberforce this year but these two events are were normally the areas biggest shows of the year. Not sure if there will be a Parade before the Gala - last year it ran round the Park I think rather than through the city due to various road works & developments on Ferenway. The road is now open but St Stephens is still being built. Parade used to be organised by Leisure Services rather than the Civic Office - but I'd give them the benefit of the doubt for now. k9knitters
Sheffield City Council run some events which may be of interest. I'd be happy to help man a stall for part of the day if required. See http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/out--about/par...-outdoor-events In particular, the Highland Fling has quite an animal theme - last year there was a Dog Tricks demonstration (run by a local couple who are very rescue oriented), the RSPCA and (I think) a greyhound rescue of some description. Sheffield Dog Rescue also run a small but well supported Annual show where they welcome other rescues. No date announced as yet, but I'll keep my eyes out for an announcement. Cheers, Carrie

k9knitters
K9knitters received an email about this event recently. Another potential show for The Oldies to attend? It sounded a bit 'commercial' for my liking - but that could be just me! Contact details: www.petshowsrus.co.uk [email protected] "Midlands Pets and People Weston Park 26th –28th May 2007 I was wondering if you might be interested in the above event. Now in its fourth year the event is a totally unique, specialist pet show. Attracting in the region of 8,000-10,000 visitors the show is for animal lovers and includes activities that will keep the whole family entertained. Weston Park acts as a fantastic backdrop for this event and helps create a relaxed, fun atmosphere for the public to shop and be entertained. We are looking for a number of additional trade stands that have an association with animals. We have space for a whole host of different exhibitors that range from pet charities to artists to insurance and animal jewellery so, if you have something that can add an unusual element to the show, I would be delighted to hear from you. Attractions include; Dog Agility Show, Companion Dog Show, Archery, Kids Quads, Fairground, Rats Show, Falconry, Goat Agility, Unusual Pets Corner, Donkeys, Ferrets, Dancing Stallions, Licensed Bar and up to 100 trade stands. In addition to this show we have a number of craft and food shows that are well established. All of our craft shows have a fantastic pedigree, many being established for more than two decades. The events take place in the grounds of some of the country’s finest Stately Homes. Our aim is to create a unique and exclusive shopping experience that simply cannot be rivalled in the high street. The shows attract many of the UK’s leading premier craft and food producers and we are always keen to add to the exhibitor portfolio. If you have anything unusual that will help develop the events then please contact us. If you require any information regarding the Pets and People Show or the Craft and Food Shows I would be delighted to hear from you. If you do not wish to receive any further information please reply to this email and I will remove you from our mailing list. Many thanks"

buddyboy
I will be manning (?womanning?) a stall at "Canine Capers & So Your Family Wants a Dog?" on September 22nd through the Crossbreed and Mongrel Club. I had been suggested as someone who has taken on an older dog - however I have to admit that as the organisers only heard about Bud's death minutes before they saw me to ask, we did not go into depth. However, I will be there, and will be passing out info including first hand experience (Bud was 10, Alice was 8, and now Toastie at least 10 when they came to me) and natuarlly Oldies Club details.
