Who Was Bridget Bones?

Half dog, half crocodile, complete cow! Leader of naughty running away adventures and discoverer of the patented run at full pelt, aim that tongue, lick complete strangers without slowing down and then galloping off girlie, lover of giving complete strangers tongue sarnies, the madam who refused to do a night night wee wee with the others, our one and only Bridget Bones, Mrs B the Housekeeper, Crocodog, Cowface, Madam, the one who, for a while, would only 'talk' to you if you put on a bad, fake Scottish accent. The girl who had the ability to walk into a room wiggling her little furless botty or trotting like a show pony and make everyone from the smallest and the youngest to the oldest love her and want to take her home. Brazen hussy openly begging for treats, your dinner or strokes and fuss. A mad sense of humour, openly laughing if you tripped up or couldn't get your trousers done up. An old lady's darling, sadly having to be rehomed through a rescue show, because her old lady broke her hip. Woody's first and best friend, who let him pest her for a full 24 hours before telling him to leave her alone. Kind, gentle, a lover of cuddles and being on the bed with you. Terrible wuss who, if she trod on a tea towel, would cry until you rubbed her poor paw better. A lady who would roll her eyes and sigh as we bought home yet another waif and stray, who she would then share dinner, treats, bed and cuddles with as if they'd always lived with her. A mummy dog who wanted to lick the world better from the comfort of a settee. Excitable, occasion loving, people and piggy ear adoring hound. Hater of fat squirrels and fireworks.....

Even if you could bottle all these things, you still wouldn't have Bridget, our unique, funny and beautiful 'good girl', taken from us so suddenly by a vicious and aggressive bone cancer which took all of two weeks to rob us of the dog we thought would live for ever.

You left us too soon but I hope you understand we didn't bring you home with us that last time because we loved you too much to put you through what was coming.

Run free Bridget and know we loved you enough to let you go, however much we wanted you to stay with us.
