  1. I would suggest that the behaviour should be ignored - as in, your OH should walk in and totally ignore all the dogs, maybe hang coat up and make a cup of tea. Once the dogs are calm and are not jumping about, then he can say hello quietly and calmly. The pup will quickly learn that it recieves no attention (good or bad) for that behaviour, and gets attention for being calm. I know its very hard to ignore (well painful ), but any attention/interaction is what the pup wants and has learnt that he gets it by doing what he is doing.
  2. Yep, we use it for 2 of ours and its great. As said above it softens the plaque and then you can give them a nice knuckle bone (or other chew) to take the plaque off. It doesn't remove the plaque, so you need them to chew to remove it.
  3. At the mo, its Respect (but I do change it when I get bored). My text is a very quiet blib cause I don't like it loud.
  4. I think a self propelled lawnmower would be perfect. We bought one last year from Focus. Its a bit of a shock when it zooms off , but you get used to it. Think this is the one we got last year, though I think we got it on offer. Self Propelled Mower. Definately recommend if you have a fairly large space to mow.
  5. Yipee. Swift's results came back today. She has a really nasty infection but that is all. Her tail was wagging constantly today and she actually wanted to go hunting/flushing (or whatever cockers love best lol). She is very under weight from being so poorly, but a few more days on light food and then she can go back to her normal diet. I am so happy for little Swifty. Thank you for all your positive thoughts.
  6. Swift is home though still poorly, but has found her wag again. The first set of tests came back inconclusive, so she has had some more and will probably get results back tomorrow. Her white blood cell count is high and she is fighting an infection. I think my friend is worried about the C word, so everything is hanging in the balance until those test results come through. Come on Swifty, get better
  7. My friend has a working cocker who is very poorly, Swift is the most gorgeous, lovely little girl you'd ever want to meet. She was taken into the vets last night and put on a drip, had x-rays which showed no foreign objects. So they think it is probably pancreatitis. Please, please could you send her healing thoughts or whatever you think will help. Thank u
  8. They are . We've got 6 1/2 and I'd gladly take yours aswell
  9. Please let this be Ziggy, and then he can climb back on his sofa and have a well earned snooze.
  10. At the kennels I worked at years ago, we always had caster oil incase of constipation in cats. Worked a treat and they were fine.
  11. I agree that its total recycling. If it happens anyway, then it may as well be put to good use
  12. A friend of mine is a stockist, she lives in Cheltenham.
  13. Does anybody know of any good Dog nutrition courses to study from home? I have only seen the one from the Animal Care College, and I'd like something more indepth.
  14. Just finished 'Book of the Dead' by Patricia Cornwell - thought it was rather good. Am going back to the book I started before the Patricia one (was from the library so had to read it straight away), the book is the first one in the Alex Delaware stories by Jonathan Kellerman. I'd read the odd one before and really liked them, so decided to start at the beginning as it were.
  15. Oh Buddy, I am sending all my best wishes that you will feel better soon. You deserve a go at life, and a chance to find your forever home. Please be strong
  16. My Mum did that with me I'm sure I do lots of silly things - just can't think of anything (except the forgetting why I've gone upstairs/downstairs, and forgetting the point of the conversation I was having - and I'm only 27 )
  17. You lot are pretty good. Yep Fleet is going to stay . He still hadn't been signed over to the rescue, when we saw the girl who used to own him. Basically she said that she would be very happy for us to keep him cause she knew he was happy (don't know whether thats a psychic thing or a presumption????). Even stranger is that she lives about 500 yards away from us in a flat down the hill - though we'd never seen any of the dogs she had. We are going to type up a form/letter for her to sign (just to be on the safe side) so that he can be officially ours. Failed foster again - though we've only kept 2 of the 9 dogs we've fostered in 4 years, so thats not to bad and he just fits in so well.
  18. I'm not sure how many people actually notice I post on here, but if you do then you might quess correctly. Ooh that sounded a bit snobbish - wasn't meant to be - I mean that I'm not sure whether many people know whats going on with in my life (is that any better - probably not )
  19. There is another one going around aswell, so I don't know whether it is true or a hoax?????

  21. "They're basically a legal weapon," says 15-year-old Lil from north London. "They could do as much damage as a firearm but they're legal. That's the best thing about them." OMG . What the hell is going on with our world
  22. That is lovely, there are some good people left in the world
