  1. I used to love Champion the Wonder Horse!!! Oh and White Horses !!!!
  2. To my mind he is probably being asked to donate a kidney - if that was my son whether I knew him or not I would still donate. I would probably still donate even if it wasnt my child knowing that this person needed it. Mind you the state of my kidneys (perfectly preserved in Vodka) Im not sure any one would want them.
  3. Got mine..... Off shoppping - more fun than buying for in laws
  4. Crate training is always a good way to go. Also sporadic treats for good behaviour. A long leash and treats for good recall. A good rub down with a towel after a wet one and ignore bad behaviour. As for the animals - let them do as they normally do - and a large glass of wine for yourself.
  5. I just managed to get Flynn clipped on his lead before a firework went off yesterday at 4.30!!! ffs. Hun and Polly are ok with fireworks and just bark in excitement. Flynn and Izzy just dive for cover - which at the time was under the car. So far tonight we havent had any blasted fireworks but have had two thunderclaps and quite a bit of lightning. Needless to say tonights walk was quick round the block and home. I hate this time of year
  6. I nearly lost my Flynn boy tonight because of these blasted fireworks. We had just got back to the car after a lovely 2 hour romp on the fields. Just as we got to the car and lucklily I had got him clipped on a lead a firework went off. He went berserk and it was all I could do to hold him down so that he didnt slip his collar. This is bearing in mind that on the other lead I have a very strong Pyr who also doesnt like Fireworks and Hun and Polly off leed waiting to get in the car. Flynn was pulling himself along the ground, Izzy was prancing and jumping, Polly didnt know where to run and Hun was looking around and if to say which way do I run (she likes chasing them). This was as 4.30pm - it wasnt even dark. BASTARDS - Luckily we are all home safe and sound. If not a little shaken
  7. Ive been asked to rehome 4 10 week old EBT's. Stupid stupid people managed to breed their "pair" - had a large litter and now find that they cant get "rid" of the last 4. The couple have split up and the woman is left with the pups and cant cope. Any ideas???? Shazzy
  8. When I drive past tonight - he still has a sign for Jack Russell pups and GSD pups for sale. The RSPCA havent done anything - as usual - the dog warden is still taking strays there. Gemini kennels is only down the road - why cant they go there???
  9. \personally I would jump into the nearest telephone box - change into my superwoman outfit (which my figure perfectly compliments) and save both This would be done by - baby's nappy would have filled with water and therefore floated and puppy would have probably only gone into the water after a stick which would have been a bouyancy aid. Simple answer - problem solved If this scenario does ever happen - I will of course post pictures of me in my Superwoman outfit - but only after a bit of airbrushing
  10. This thankfully has been reported in our local paper. Ive been to this kennels - even managed to get a couple of STaffys out for RDR. I have known a few re homings from here where the dogs have been so ill they have not lasted more than a few weeks. Ive also been horrified when dogs have been rehomed to families with young children and no homecheck. I actually work this one person whose Mum got a terrier from here. He was so thin and poorly it has cost her a fortune to get him right. He's one of the lucky ones. This is the kennel where the dog on Dog Lost was apparently "seen" but nothing done about her. I hate this man and if I could have my way I would put him in a kennel, with no water,a concrete floor cover him in poo and leave him. http://www.echo-news.co.uk/news/3757477.Up...at_dog_kennels/
  11. I fall asleep around 10.30 and am wide awake around 2 to 3. I was told to stare at the ceiling (although if its dark you cant see it) and fight to keep your eyes open - Soon sends you to sleep. Works fo r me.

  17. Update on our household: FIL has now had 3 transfusions to raise his platlets and this now seems to be working as he has had as much chemo and radiotherapy as his body will stand and is now not quite so tired and sicky. An adult should have around 400 platlets but he has been coming in at 21 which after 2 transfusions was not looking good but bloods today showed he is now at 56. (This is all down to my roast potatoes Im thinking!!!) Freddie the Cav is still enjoying being with Bil and is showing no signs of stress and is really bouncy and full of life which has surprised me. Bil is doing a great job with him - another surprise to me!! Ive been to have my eyes checked and they are sending me for more tests as they have deteriorated more than they should have. I could have told them that as I am really finding it hard to see properly. I can see really well long range but cant see anything in front of me. Im hoping that my touch typing hasnt let me down here. My highlight of this week was walking into a garden centre not far from home and being accosted by a very springy springer!!. Skye threw herself at me and cried and kissed and slobbered me. I helped transport her over a year ago from not a nice place to a lady not far from here and it seems that dogs never forget. I confess to a few tears. She looks so good. She is no longer the frightend matted little girl I picked up. She is gorgoeous and so full of life and SO well behaved a credit to her new Mum. My little girl is living it up in Gran Canaria with one of her friends and I miss her terribly, shes been gone a whole week and I have another whole week without her - shes nearly 22 but still my baby and the only other female in the house!!! Hugs love and sympathy to anyone who needs one - I dont get on here alot at the moment but miss and think of you all the time
  18. From what I can make out - they have taken your entitlement to cover your holiday time. The further it is spread the less tax you will pay, unless you are drawing benefits from 12.9.08. When anyone leaves our place, I always take the tax to the furthest date I can legitimately so that they dont get clobbered for tax and NI. If i dont do this then because tax and ni is on a cummulative basis ie., it is estimated that in each molnth (or week) you are going to earn so much - the tax is calculated over either 12 months or 52 weeks and divided equally between those times, but if you leave mid month and take earned holiday and money in leiu this raises your weekly(or monthly) allowance and therefore you pay more tax and ni. pm me if this isnt clear - Ill give you my phone number and talk it through with you Shazzy
  19. OMG - big hugs to you both that must have been really scary
  20. I dont live there but spent most of my childhood and many years after that in Norfolk, especially North Norfolk I might beable to help. Shazzy
  21. We are having to same in Southend. No dogs on beaches, parklands, sports pitches etc., Personally I wouldnt let my dogs walk on Southend Beach - I cant imagine what they would tread on.
