  1. Since the start of the summer I have found 3 dogs in cars - the first two in Asda carpark and alerted their customer services and asked for the owners to come forward - then waited b the car until they came - which they did pretty quickley but the third was in tesco's. Two young lad had informed customer services and I heard the announcement over the tannoy at 2.35 that a dog was in distress in a car - and then again at 2.45. I asked customer services to show me where the car was and waited. The large doberman was panting dreadfully stuck in the back of a fiesta!! I dialled 999 and told them that I was about to break the car window - and was informed that I would be breaking the law - so I said ok send a squad car and Ill deal with it then. THe operator just kept asking me for my name and address and not to break the glass. I told him I would give the owner 1 more minute as to my knowledge this dog had now been in the car for over half an hour and it was baking. An old woman - 70 if a day - covered in wrinkly tattoo's pulled her laden trolley up to the car and asked me what I was doing - I told her that I was going to break in to get the dog out and she told me to mind my own business. I asked her to open the car and give the dog a drink - which I offered her and she started swearing at me that I was a no good busybody. She said I have only been gone a few minutes - I said more like 45 at least - she was very rude. I told her that I had called the police and that I would report her to the RSPCA as I had her car reg - didnt know if this would work but I was so angry. She then filled the car up with her shopping squeezing the dog into the front seat and drove off!! I waited for the police and was told in no uncertain terms that had I broken the window I would have been arrested!!! I asked them to put it on record that I wouldnt hesitate to smash a window etc., and walked away. None of my family ever want to come shopping with me.
  2. I am petrified of this swine flu as I have COPD - my own fault for years of smoking and to be honest I will try and be first in the queue if the vaccine comes around. I am worried that if I contract this virus I will die as my lungs wont cope with the underlying illness and Im scared stiff for the future of my animals and my family. Yesterday we were told that a visiting baby to our office has swine flu and is on a ventilator in hospital - we all cuddled her 2 days before - she is only six months old and a further colleague has susptected swine flu - there are only 8 of us in our office.
  3. Yup I tried that one for 2 months and didnt touch it - the Nazonex worked within a few days no harm in trying
  4. Ive was given Nazonex nose spray to unblock my ears and it works a treat Prescription only so you will have to see your doctor.
  5. Just popping in to say hi to everyone - I am licking my wounds a bit at the mo - and thanks to Jacobean - she is a star and so thoughtful. Love to all and I do think of you all every day. All the animals here are fine we are just getting on with things.
  6. I am thinking what next ......... Both Dads die within a few months or each other, my baby daughter moves out to live with her lovely boyfriend - should be happy but miss her terribly, Holly cat goes to the bridge and on Thursday night were were burgled whilst we slept in bed. The dogs started barking about 4ish but as usual we thought it was foxes again but when OH got up in the morning the basta**ds had been through the house - handbag gone (with ALL my fags) mobiles gone, laptop gone but the worst and most expensive to replace so far all the car keys and spares. So far this has cost us nearly £1000 and two nights with no sleep because we kept thinking they were coming back to get the cars. The police think that they were after the cars but were spooked by the dogs and our neighbour doors up had his Jag stolen same night. Im sitting here really numb today as it is sinking in now. Im glad the dogs didnt go to investigate the noise as they could have been armed and at least we are all safe. Apparently keys that are stolen from the house are not covered on normal car policies and are not covered on your contents ins. We did luckliy have Boomerang ins on OH's van and they have paid for the whole of his locks to be replaced on his van plus because our front door key was on there they have paid for the locks to be changed on the door too. Thinking more clearly now I should have said that OH had the keys to my cars on his key ring but it never occured to me and I probably wouldnt have been able to do it anyway - not very good at telling porkies like that. So far 2009 sucks!!

  9. Happy May everyone Funeral went well Dad got a good send off - so many of his friends were there and wee had a "few" drinks after to celebrate his life Daughter had been poorly with tonsilitis all week and showing no signs of geetting better so took her back to dr's who are now testing her for glandular fever -poor darling also has oral and vaginal thrush from the antibiotics and now has to have another kind. She was supposed to be going to France today to meet her boyfriends parents for the first time but I wont let her fly - as her body;s immune system is so low she will pcik up everything on the plane - its such a shame as a weeks holiday would have done her good. Obviously there has been much kissing the new boyfriend!!!
  10. No help with recipes - but can I come - Im quite happy to eat all of that
  11. Izzy Flynn and Polly never have a problem with their ears - touch wood but poor old Hun has to have drops quite frequently.. I was going to the vet at £50 odd pounds a time but have discovered that Johnsons ear drops at £3.45 per bottle does the same. She now comes to me if her ears are sore - rolls over and I do the drops. We have squinty eyes and "ooh Mum I dont like this face" but she does the roll over every time I wont be going to the vets for drops any more - it would normally take 3 to 4 days for their drops to work whereas Johnsons works straight away - within hours the horrible brown stuff disappears and everything is clean and clear

and whatever else anyone needs. Sorry havent been able to catch up. Sorted Dads funeral and all the bits that go with it. Next Wed 29th otherwise it would not have been until the middle of May!! We have decided on family flowers only and donations to Dogs Trust - as Dad loved his doggies Im a bit fragile at the mo as it seems that all I have done in the past few months is go to the hospital and watch someone special die. The dogs are playing up a bit as I havent taken them for their long walks just quickies - I do hope they understand. OH and I are determined that this weekend we take them for a day out with picnic - just them and us.
  13. Will be thinking of you and your family today
  14. The earliest memory I have of being like this was watching a John Wayne film where he is hired by a young girl and towards the end of the film she gets bitten by a snake and John Wayne rides her horse as fast as it will go until it collapses and dies Oh my doG that was it I was off - absolutely inconsolable. My husband pleaded with me not to go to the pictures to see Marley and Me as he thinks I would be distraught. It took me 4 attempts to read the last chapter of the book I couldnt see the words for sobbing And NO-ONE warned me about I am Legend

Could I just ask for a few good thoughts for my Dad - he is in ITU h collapsed on Sunday - it is probably his COPD but could be pneumonia and he is very poorly. He is sedated and on a respiratory machine which is breathing for him at the moment. I know deep down that he has one foot on "the bridge" and that his faithful Max is probably waiting for him on the other side = Ill let you know how he is getting on. I havent had time to scroll back but as necessary
  17. Full support to your family from our family.
  18. Wendy - dont know what to say - but I will pass this on to a couple of friends if I may as they are always posting pictures of their children espcially on Facebook and although I know that you have to accept someone as a friend my SIL has over 400 "friends" on her Facebook and she doesnt really know them personally - they are friends of friends of friends and so on.

I have a very large molar almost hanging out of its socket and I can wiggle and wiggle it round and round (just like when you lost your baby teeth) only thing is now it is aching I am wondering if we have any dentists out there who can tell me whether it will hurt like hell if I keep wiggling or chomp on a large but of steak or will it just pop out - which I am hoping as I an terrified of the dentist
  20. Having worn the magnet thing every day since I got it - I can say that I do feel a lot better still a bit la la (as my daughter puts it!) but not quite so grumpy with the world BUT Ive just found it in the tumble dryer I totally forgot about it and just chucked all my undies in the washing machine this morning. Do you think it will be alright Back to la la land
