To own a small holding and have lots of rescue chickens and other animals. Breed rare breed chooks, pigs, goats and sheep, have a massive vege plot, foster lots of children and dogs and have a hubby that will continue to indulge me and my need to make a difference no matter how small.

Mrs Jones - she's lovely. She looks well cared for so I hope she goes home. I'll be keeping an eye on her.
  4. I think no.2, no.3 has a little too much ventilation for the winter months and the ladder is very steep and ends at the end of the run. We converted an old summerhouse for our hens and made the run out of posts and chickenwire and roofed it with plastic. Converting a shed is a much cheaper option but it depends on your DIY skills ( I enlisted my hubby ) I am wary of the ads on ebay as they always seem to state that they can house a lot more hens that they actually have room for.

She looks like she is having a fantastic time with you , I'm pleased you have posted an update I was wondering how she was getting on.
  7. If transport costs keep going up will it start to affect those kind people who help out on dog runs?

    Need A Name!

Oh he's gorgeous I think he looks like an Alfie
  9. Our foster has very poor sight and has adapted really well to our rather tricky layout, he did have quite a few bumps and trips along the way though. He now get himself down several steps along the decking and down another couple of steps into the garden where he wanders at will. I think we found it more upsetting than he did. I am sure that Tillee will find her way but if you think that it would help her to create a "safe" area and she would use it then I don't see why you shouldn't. I'm sure that it will make you feel better to have done something for her if nothing else.
  10. Many happy returns of the day Mrs B
  11. I apparently should have a St Bernard. I have no idea how it came up with that, oh the slobber
  12. Hello all - just popped in to say that after 7 weeks of having to borrow and hire transport we now have a new car (well new to us) I think all of our relatives were getting just a little pee'd off with our begging. Bouncer is going to try it out tonight to see if it's comfortable enough for him
  13. Can't help you with where to buy mossie milk but Wrights coal tar soap works for me. It is the only thing that I have found keeps them away that doesn't cost an absolute fortune.
  14. Wise old Grandma's - mine used to say that too, now I find myself passing it on to my son.
  15. Oh Rudi I'm so sorry I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings . I was just trying to be honest - something niggles everyone. You are definately not fat and wouldn't have been considered so by my hubby - his thing is about really big people who can hardly walk. You put yourself out transporting our dog that is definately not lazy or stupid, you are a beautiful kind person
  16. I think it is all wrong but we are all guilty in some way. It's human nature. My hubby is fattist, although he is well over weight himself, I really get on my high horse about single parent on benefits not being able to afford the correct food for their children etc, although we both work happily alongside homosexuals and I work with a transexual. I do not believe that any of us are truely impartial no matter how hard we strive for it.
  17. oooooh that one is remote controlled too
  18. Don't worry we will still foster . It's just hypothetical really. I like to do things properly, I read the books and research on the internet and then get it stuck in my head that that is the right way to do it. I always like to think that our fosters will go to somewhere better where they will get more company but as you have pretty much all said - they do sleep all day when you are not there. Bouncer certainly does, he looks up guiltily from where he has been snoozing on the sofa and straight after his walk and treats he's fast asleep again. I'm just wandering how proper properly is? Does that make sense ?
  19. Wow she is a big "Pom" Lovely pictures - I really like the snoozing one , Tilli does seem to have settled in well and looks like she is thoroughly enjoying herself.
  20. I have been wandering how many fugees with dogs work full time? And how do you cope? We have foster dogs and I go home at lunchtime for an hour and hubby is home by 3.30pm most days but I have convinced myself that it is unfair to have a permanent dog until I work less hours. What do you all think/do?
  21. Unfortunately Bouncer was not the dog for them (they are going to taken on a Lurcher that has been in kennels for 9 months). Bouncer very much enjoyed his walk with the tall glamourous greyhound though and even gave her a big kiss before she left. Quite the gentleman.
