  1. I'm glad the cd arrived okay, Anne I was worried about delivery times before Christmas! Terri, about the M&G in Edinburgh, some sort of competition or raffle sounds like a great idea. I'll bring along merchandise and some other things I had for a stall we'd booked for the doggie do at Thirlestane castle last Easter (which unfortunately I had to cancel because FeeBee got so ill). I'll get in touch nearer the time via PM, or if you have an email address I could use that would be great too
  2. Thanks everyone And thanks also from FeeBee, who is snoozing in her basket behind me at the moment. I work from home part of the month, and I think she just loves being in my study with me all day, curled up in her basket (sometimes I'm a bit jealous actually - wish I could go back to bed too ) The other part of the month Fee goes to one of our neighbours for a few hours a day when there's no one at home, as she still doesn't want to stay alone in the house and will start howling, poor thing Who can blame her, she's probably never been left, living with her elderly owner! We're very grateful to our neighbours for helping out, they all love and spoil her when she's with them I was kinda dumbstruck when I saw Portobello written and then seeing that you come from Edinburgh, where abouts are you, I'm just along the road from there in Leith. We're in Stockbridge (colonies), by the Water of Leith, but FeeBee loves the beach so we sometimes go to Portobello on a Sunday We'd love to join you for the M&G in January, it's on the 25th isn't it? I wonder if it is possible for us to get these videos put on a DVD so we can use them at meet and greets. I shall have mutterings with the other RC's Not a problem, will PM you about this My neices and nephews are getting sponsorship of FeeBee for their Christmas pressies this year Oh, that's lovely, thank you so much!!
  3. As the year is coming to an end, I thought it's time to post another update on how FeeBee, our Oldies Club Sponsor Dog, has been doing. The auto-immune disease she was suffering from seems to have gone into remission, and she has now been off steroids for almost half a year and doing very well indeed. Please check out a recent video we've taken of her at Portobello beach here in Edinburgh: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=B-JRbdG42dc&fmt=18 (If the video doesn't play well, click on the "watch in normal quality" link underneath) As you can see, she's enjoying life to the full, and we sometimes have to remind her that she's 15 years old and not a puppy any more! We think she is the most amazing creature on earth - despite everything she has been through (losing her beloved elderly owner last year, moving almost 500 miles to her foster home, and then falling so ill), she is such a happy girl, who always has a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face! Thank you so much to all the kind people who are sponsoring this beautiful girl - we hope you can see how much your help is appreciated
  4. Oh no I've only just seen this. I'm so sorry Trish Ben was such a special boy, so handsome and gentle. Big hugs to you, Padi, and Paris.
  5. I'm so sorry to hear this Kathy I'm not on here much, but I've always enjoyed reading about what little Brummie had got up to. You've given him such a wonderful home, and I'm sure he's very happy now, wherever he is
  6. Oh Cindy, I'm so sorry to hear this I'm thinking of you and Steve and Ruby. Alles Liebe
  7. Hi Eileen, I'm very sorry about this - I've just been told you were waiting for the bags, and I will send them off asap. Did you email me at silke "at" oldies.org.uk about the order? (I haven't received anything, but sometimes emails don't get through.) Sorry for the wait
  8. Camcorder is charging (Btw I love that video of Minnie-Moo and your nephew - soooo cute!! )
  9. Another post from me tonight. Trish is reaching Edinburgh tomorrow She will be staying with us for a couple of nights - I can't wait to hear all about her journey so far! Ben is probably staying too, but that depends on whether he can convince FeeBee of his gentlemanly manners If any of you are in the area and fancy joining us to hear about Trish's amazing Trudge, please get in touch - Trish's mobile is 0777 339 3786, or you can ring me at 0131 332 1923.

    Feebee

Hello First of all, apologies I haven't posted anything for so long - and so much has happened since I last wrote. I'm not sure how many of you know about FeeBee's story, the lovely 14-year-old Collie Retriever X girl who arrived with me as a foster back in February. After only a few weeks she fell very ill with a high temperature that just wouldn't come down. After three days at the vets on a drip and no improvement, things were looking very bleak, and she was basically given until the next morning... I was devastated as you can imagine, and I don't think I would have survived these horrible days without Cindy, whose support was just incredible! -- As a last resort, the vet decided to give her steroids, and a miracle happened: at 11pm a very excited vet nurse rang me, saying the temperature had started to go down!! And by the morning it was back to normal. The vet suspects it's some kind of auto-immune disease, and although the steroids have given her a new lease of life, she will have to be closely monitored by the vet for the rest of her life. We are currently trying to wean her off the steroids, but there is a possibility that the temperature will come back once treatment is stopped. The Oldies Club have therefore decided not to rehome her, and this lovely, beautiful, adorable girl will stay with me for the rest of her life I can't tell you how grateful I am to the Oldies Club for making it possible for her to stay with me, as on my own I would never be able to afford her sky-high vet bills. Fee is very grateful too as she has settled in with us very well, and we have in the meantime moved to a lovely little flat right by the river, which she absolutley loves, as you can see in the pictures I've posted below. She's like a different dog, she thoroughly enjoys life and loves nothing more than chasing after a ball! Isn't she just gorgeous? Her favourite spot by the river: We found she has some hobbies we didn't know about: Visiting Meg (my previous foster) in her beautiful new home: FeeBee is now an Oldies Club Sponsor Dog. If you would like to help us looking after her, please read about the Sponsor Scheme here: http://www.oldies.org.uk/?page_id=379. We would be extremely grateful for any support!
  11. I'm sorry everyone, what can I say - awful scenery I totally agree But my excuse is that it's just across the road from mine so quite handy to get to Isn't she just gorgeous... It'll be so hard to let her go!!

    Meet Kofi

She looks so comfy in her bed! Good luck with her diet - 20kg sounds like an awful lot of weight to lose How much does she weigh at the moment? When Meg first arrived she was 31kg, we managed to get her down to 25, but it was SO hard to resist her begging eyes
  13. Awww that's SO sweet!!! Daisy looks really chilled out and happy
