  1. The final decision as to whether to prosecute or not lies with the vet really. If the vet that saw the dog does not think it suffered then the rspca CANNOT prosecute. That is how the law is worded as frustrating as it is.

  7. Both dogs have been rehomed and came round remarkably quickly, very sweet dogs the fact its been adjourned for sentencing means the court are considering serious punishment, they will most likely lose there jobs(if they dont im starting a petition on here!) and no doubt have a rough time off their peers
  8. ive been waiting for this to come out. i get the impression this will be dealt with 'in house'
  9. how gorgeous i can almost hear them squarking from here !
  10. its amazing to be slated for doing too much and yet not enough on the same programme!. As far as im concerned if you are worried about any child no matter what your job you should raise your voice, too many children have died due to people turning a blind eye. When i raisied a child protection matter i was so glad i did as the child had been left to fend for herself for two weeks when parents went on hoiliday, child was 7 years old
  11. mildred has hair! she looks gorgeous and definatly plotting world domination

  16. like i said to jackie your prob best to try breed rescue, i know that we are full to bursting at colwyn bay. Paws is good or abandoned animals all should be on internet. if not will get numbers later. would need to know more of the situation if were to pursue-state of dog, circumstances left etc
  17. no by all means get in contact at any point.thats how i started as a girl who was in training put her horse out on loan and i taught the girl who loaned her so i had advice on tap. no you rent a room in someones home, its a kind of weird situtation but all the landlords/ladys are really nice-most work for the rspca in someway or are animal mad too.good luck have you started to apply yet?its a really long drawn out process and quite stressful!
  18. hi, glad about the nature of the post thought we were about to be shot down!!! im the inspector for anglesey as jackie pointed out (i will kill her later!) the training is mostly done at hq and they put you up in someones room in a house. The field training is done at two different posts normally one rural and one urban. one of them will be where you will posted to. they put you up for that too. as the application process proceeds you will be sent out with an inspector for a day or two to get a feel for the job. you are best volunteering at a centre as then you will meet lots of inspectors and get a real idea of the pressure of the job and in turn the pressures on the centre. it is a very full on course so be prepared, learn as much about the main welfare laws as possible including the animal welfare act 2006 mainly section 9 and 4. Wildlife and countryside act too. You'll have to do abseiling, long distance walking, courses handling all different sorts of animals including reptiles and there is the euthanasia hurdle to cross, hard as iti is you do need it out in the field when you come across badly injured animals. As for posting thats the million dollar question, yes they do take into account your current location, family situation and other reasons but it depends on your strengths and weaknesses too. Where do you live? as some areas have more vacancies than others. They give you an allowance for moving and pay some solicitors fees etc i would say on my course it was prob 90% that were happy with there posting. the job is fantastic, its really full on and i laugh, cry and get angry and frustrated most days but its worth it when you get an animal out of a horrid situation. i get to work with fab people including my group, ilph, vets, police, firebrigade, coast guard and no day is ever the same. hope that helps or has left you running for the hills sabina
  19. arty would mug me for treats (the staffy!) riley the lurcher would prob be very worried but then head home if he got bored/cold/it rained! widget the whippet would just tag along with the next person to walk past (she would go home with anyone!!) and forget all about me. def need to carry my phone!!!
  20. isnt headly britannia a mare?! my friend foaled one of her E.T foals at twelmlows!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. that would be super!im going to get the three boys seen by the vet and then if you could foster them it would be fab! do you rehome cats from that rescue? the tabby is just getting settled so i dont want her moved around too much and she has bonded with one of my cats to give her confidence.
  22. now have a tabby girl approx ten weeks old was supposed to be feral but is not at all!a little shy but dog proof already tonight i had three mittens dumped in a bag, two ginger boys and one black and white boy about eight weeks old very sweet and tame all will be subject to homechecks/references and go with neutering vouchers. im over run with mittens, all the animal centres are full to bursting so if anyone knows anyone looking for a kitten please send them my way!! email - [email protected] p.s will post pics soon
  23. im starting to admit arty is getting older, he is 13 now and i have had him 6 years in august. He is still bright as a button and the only thing that is failing is his eyes, he doesnt like going for walks with other dogs now as he is worried he will get knocked over as he cant see them coming. Still wont admit that he wont live forever though!
