  4. Barty Our Zak the dobe will be 7 next month and he had the TPLO operation about 18 months ago. I was very apprehensive about the surgery but without a doubt it was one of the best things we have done for him. If you should go for the TPLO we were told the success very much depends on the skill of the vet and the recovery period so our regular vet referred us to an orthopaedic specialist. The recovery period was hard work, Zak has always stuck to us like velcro and slept on the bed at night so he hated crate rest and wanted to be doing far more than we could let him. We ended up making up a bed on the living room floor next to his crate for about a fortnight just so we could all get some sleep! To see him now though you wouldn't have a clue there had been a problem, he loves to run and jump and doesn't seem to have any stiffness or difficulty supporting his weight. His movement is as good as when he was a youngster.

  11. So do I, we use so many 'Alan' phrases in this household! Thank you everyone so much for thinking of my babe, the vet thinks the operation went well and we are counting down the hours until we can phone again and hopefully go and bring him home. Alison - thank you, I tried to reply but your pm box is full, will try and catch you tomorrow.
  12. Thank you all, I knew other doggy peeps would understand. He will be staying in over night and the thought of that is worrying me as much the operation itself, which sounds a bit daft really Thank you for your thoughts, they are very much appreciated. We will go and have some cuddles now.
  13. I feel cheeky posting in here, but have to get this off my chest. Zak is going in for a big op at the vets tomorrow on his leg and I'm petrified. Please keep your fingers crossed for my boy.
  14. Our Zak is going in for a GA and X-rays tomorrow morning as the vet thinks he either has a cruciate problem or HD. His symptoms sound so like Bailey and Saffy's. I have to say I'm wibbling! Andrea have you found anywhere in the West Mids that offers hydrotherapy?
