  1. Thanks everyone Snatch had now 2 of the injections and although he still runs around, he also does a lot of limping and being stiff after laying down. So I am not sure if they work, but I guess there are still 2 to come (friday evening is the 3rd one) and maybe it takes a while with him. Anne, thanks for all the information. Snatch is already on a good glucosamine supplement and also on green lipped muscle and arnica at times. (my vet is quiet into herbals so will always recommend alternatives). We did try hydro therapy and although Snatch likes the sea/lakes/rivers, he absolutely hates the pool and water tredmill, so that is a no goer for us. We also tried accupuncture quite some time ago when the athritis first started, but he was terified of it and would be shell shocked for days and as he has dementia anyway, the stress is no good for that. I guess we just have to try the injections and if that won't help, research and try other stuff. I am lucky that my vet (3 who have been with Snatch for 8 years and now him inside and out) are always keen on alternatives and researching. I shall keep you all posted
  2. Thanks Georgina, that is very kind But as Snatch sleeps on my bed I doubt that enough of this would go through a human mattress?
  3. Thinking of Nugget and wishing loads of healing thoughts for the old lad. And a couple of these for you Drop me a line or ring Lynne if you need a natter ok? Cindy
  4. Thanks for asking Snatch is currently snoring next to me. He has had his second injection for the athritis and I can't make up my mind if he is better or not. Lynne and I went with the dogs down the woodlands yesterday and he did his normal running around, chewing trees and stumps and wizzing through the mud, until the heavens opened. I have never seen Ruby run that fast and long to get back to the car How is Ollie and my favourite Ted the sausager eater? Cindy
  5. I'll make you a cuppa (althogh you are a lager lout by own admission) and toast in the morning. BBQ in the evening and YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO Cindy
  6. Not a lot of extra advise but I am happy to meet you and Winnie with the red duo half way a few times for walks. Snatch ignores dogs anyway or just sniffs them if they don't look and Ruby, well if a dog shouts at her she rather ignores it plus her body language when approaching dogs is 100% friendly from posture to movement to tail (and she is a diddy one lol). Cindy
  7. I thought I post a little update about the oldies staffy girl 'Serena' that was with RDR in the pound. She came to the Oldies Club a little more than a week ago and here a few pictures of a happy girl at her foster home. She is now called 'Ruby' (and still looks the same as my girl Ruby ) Sleepy Girl Having fun Looking happy The crooked leg is from an old injury that wasn't treated right. 'Ruby' obviously had quite a few litters but she will be speyed this week and is other than that in good health and can't wait for a new home to call her own. She is also good with kids and loves to play non stop. Cindy
  8. Thanks for the update Jules I will try ringing again tonight on the sly from work to see how you are getting on ok? Cindy
  9. You battered and bruised Sparkle?
  10. I am all like this as deep down I know Bear wanted you to find 'Fish' Welcome home georjuss and the red duo are very much looking forward to meeting you
  11. Thanks for the update Elaine I am rather jealous as I can imagine how fantastic the wildlife will be on her travels and we never really get to see it
  12. That is fantastic and fab music He is rather a young 16 year old and spritely
  13. I can only second what Elaine said as I saw said lad only a couple of weeks ago down the beach and you wouldn't think there is anything wrong with him Glad Nuggy is feeling better already Cindy
  14. Thank you very much Carrie Cindy
  15. He would suit Ruby as she is a tad mad Could you remind me when it is again Jaqui?
  16. They are, thank god someone remembered the name It is great to hear someone has good experiences with this. Thanks Jo. Not sure if he would do hydro, he is the first in at the beach but staffies are not known to be good swimmers.
  17. We have been for his first injection and he 'took it like a man' This is a 4 week/4 injection course and can only be repeated every 6 months, so if this doesn't do the trick, we are at the end.
  18. All dogs are welcome at the show but tis is not fair, I haven't even met them yet Cindy
  19. Yes it was a interesting holiday. The best part was that they 'lost' my bike for 2 days and now it will be the 02/06/08 until I get it back Anyway, thanks for the well wishes, Snatch has just had a 'bark for no reason' moment which is in a way funny as Ruby thought he is telling her there is a cat outside and she rushed down stairs to see only to find there is no cat
  20. Sue, sorry to hear about Chips owner. If there is back up, i.e. should a new home not work out he will be taken back into the current owners care, then you can add him to the Oldies Club website as a private rehoming Cindy
  21. Just catching up and I am really sorry to hear this. Digby might have dementia which although can't be healed, can be slowed down and common medication is Vivitonin and in Snatch's case Selgian. I really hope there is something you can do for this old fella as deep down I believe he was meant to find you to spend the rest of his days with you. Thinking of you all Cindy
  22. Be safe on your walks Trish and I am looking forward to hook up with you with the red duo when you enter the SWest Cindy
  23. Lots of positive thoughts for our little man. You wouldn't have thought anything was wrong the way he bounced and posed the other week
