This question has been raised before and i think it's a very good one and in my opinion what it comes down it is the dogs situation,the personal circumstances of the person taking the dog on and the rescue involved. As fee pointed out christmas is a time where somebody who fosters the rest of the time may well need a break.If it can be done smoothly enough say with someone having a quiet christmas and the alternate being say a cold pound kennel then a fireside and love has to win out everytime. So handled correctly then i'd say do it
