  1. I spoke to the owner of the dog and the rescue was named by them ,and confirmed to another caller from a different rescue yesterday As our rescue was mentioned on another site regarding this Akita ?? yesterday ,I felt we had a right of reply , so I posted my thoughts and the name of the rescue involved , and as usual on the said site it turned into a slanging match and I got banned and the topic removed , so be careful of naming and shaming after all the bulletts are loaded and you are left to fire the gun , as usual with these cliques who dont have the courage of their convictions you stand alone .
  2. UPDATE 02/11/09 Well here is Ruby Tuesday 3 weeks into being in our care Ruby is in the middle of Spud and Dan they have allways been right by her side since she came in . RT is now 33 kilo and doing fine there have been one or two little worring times but thats all in the past now , RT was at the vets tonight and he is quite pleased with her progress Pete the vet thinks all is fine and she is heading in the right direction , well upart from the very unlady like odd oudours she seems quite proud of ,but hey we can live with that [ just ] Ruby now has her moments of play time with the lads ,her and Dan are partners in crime never far apart . Ruby impresses everyone she meets with her loving nature , she loves a good fuss and loves her snuggle time with mags or me in the evening .there is still a way to go for this girl but Im sure she will be a real darling and a real looker when she finaly fills out . Again I would like to thank everyone on behalf of Ruby Tuesday for their Emails ,phonecalls and well wishes and genuine support for this young dog in need
  3. Quick update Well Ruby Tuesday has been with us just short of a week now,she has gained a little weight and is a dream to have in foster with us . RT has been back at the vets on monday for some more tests as she showed a little bit of blood in her urine on sunday night . The tests all came back ok and one posible cause the vet thinks is she may be in season [nature can be quite cruel sometimes ] but as she is in such bad condition her body is acting qite strange to this ?. He has put her on a short case of antibiotics just in case .on behalf of ruby I must thank everyone for their comments , emails and phone calls asking after her .Today [tue] RT had enough energy to try to play with Dan a young lad we also have in with us but she got tiered after a few minutes ,but it was nice to see her enjoying life . jon
  4. Hi Laura thanks for the offer which is ever easier for you would be great with us .pm me for any details you need . Hi HLGS Thanks for the tip/recipe , one problem we have with RT is she seems to pass as much waste as food she is taking in quite quickly . By this I mean her stomach is so small [non existant ] she can hardly hold on to any goodness for long , she has put on a little weight so going in the right direction . This evening she now seems to have a odd bits of what seems to be very small bits of blood / clots in her urine ? , so off to the vets with a sample and RT first thing in the morning ,hopefuly its just an infection but as you know when they are this far down their immune systems are so low they get everything going . but all in all she is well with in herself and a temperament to die for . jon
  5. Hi Guys Yep I will try to keep her story and progress updated. Kate ans Missy thank you as soon as she is able to eat treats I will make sure she knows who thay are from . At the moment her food is monitored Ruby Tuesday is fed every three hours and seems quite happy within herself she is happy to just lay about or will try to plod along with spud and the couple of fosters we have in with us, as you can imagine her energy levels are quite low . jon
  6. If you are easily upset please dont read . the link is to our dogs under treatment page on our site [ hope this is ok admin if not please remove ] .our ruby tuesday

  8. to all involved . Murphy is where he belongs HOME , I just wish everyone involved in working so hard and saving this dog could have been there the moment I took murf home to Spencer ,I have seen some happy faces in my time but boy did Spencers face light up I saw Spencer and Murphy a couple of days later and yep Spencer was still grinning like a chesire cat .
  9. Hi Zicos mum I take on board what you say and yes for this to work things would need to change, but for me that would be for the better , owners changing their details on line would need to stop, for the reasons you have stated ,MC companys do keep records , it may sound strange but you already can trace a chip back to the implanter who implanted and they should realy keep records of the chips they implant , realy vets are not the people to contact over lost or stolen dogs your first port of call should be the chip company who hold the details . As for rescues who chip dogs to themselves [ourselves included ] that is something the rescues would have to look at themselves if this law was past . As an implanter myself through the rescue and our free M/C schemes we run localy I probably implant about 200 dogs/cats + every year and then dealing with lost dogs etc I know the system and how it works and how it could/should work as already stated the system is already there in place and imo just not used to its full potential. As for the fines and who collects them and where the money goes is a different thing as with any government it will be not where it is needed or will do the most good
  10. Ok I admit it would create a bit of work for some D W's etc but we have to start somewhere. At the moment you have pups/dogs being sold /given away in free add papers , pet shops ,dodgy internet sites all with no control etc, owners dumping dogs left right and center .If it was made ileagal to sell /part with or swap a domestic animal that was not micro chiped , surly this would stop some from jumping in and taking on an animal on a whim and others from sherking their responsibility towards animals when they get fed up of them . Im not saying it would stop the problem but it may go a little way to helping to eleviate it. jon
  11. Hi as one who has been campianing for years for pets to be M/C , for me the answer is simple you make it an on the spot fine if the dog is not M/C at least a £100 fine. Also if you find a M/C'd dog that the details are not upto date then the fine is owed by the last registered owner ,lets be honest if you new you could be fined a £100 you would make sure the paper work was sorted out when you passed a dog on or moved house etc . As for new pups All new pups must be microchiped to the breeder before they can be sold, that way dogs are tracable all thier lives , this not only protects the breeders as it would make it virtualy impossible for people to break thier contracts and just breed with the dogs where restrictions apply and register them with the KC. Or pass the dog on into rescue with out any paper work under a different name again braking the law, good breeders would not have anything to fear from this scheme as its very rare for thier dogs to tun up in rescue and if it did they could be informed straight away You wouldn't sell a car with out filling the paper work because of the come back so why should you be alowed to just pass on animals or dump them without taking the responsibility that goes with that .

  16. This was sent to me by email yesterday by a friend , I have signed jon I dont usually send things like this, but this is so awful. Its such a blatant disregard for life, I think any animal lover will agree. R x This is a distressing email. This must be stopped at all costs. Please do sign. THIS WILL TAKE A MINUTE OF YOUR TIME AND WILL SAVE A CREATURE – AND HOPEFULLY REMOVE THIS SO-CALLED 'ARTIST'!!! Hi all, this is a very serious matter... In the 2007, the 'artist' Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, took a dog from the street, he tied him to a rope in an art gallery, starving him to death. For several days, the 'artist' and the visitors of the exhibition have watched emotionless the shameful 'masterpiece' based on the dog's agony, until eventually he died. But this is not all ... the prestigious Visual Arts Biennial of the Central American decided that the 'installation' was actually art, so that Guillermo VargasHabacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel action for the biennial of 2008. Let's STOP HIM!!!!! Click on the following link : http://www.petitiononline.com/ea6gk/petition-sign.html or http://www.petitiononline.com/13031953/petition.html or just copy it in your browser to sign a petion to stop him to do it again, then digit the name Guillermo Vargas Habacuc to find the petition to sign. Please do it. It's free of charge and it will only take 1 minute to save the life of an innocent creature.

  21. I fear this incident is just one in recent times that may be one to many for this breed to survive under the present regulations we so freely enjoy today. What can be done about it I have no answer, but I feel if the rottweiler is to survive in the UK, then we as owners ,breeders ,rescues etc must now look within ourselves as to why these incidents are happening, imo poor education of animal husbandry is a key factor , breeding as we know can be a factor, some lines we know are more problematic than others and imo should not be in the public domain, and this is where the government and the K/C could act more responsible with breeding restrictions and licences for breeding with heavy fines for non licenced breeders, puppy farmers and BYB’S . All though there is no accusation [sp] that this was a rescue, I believe rescues themselves should be strictly regulated as it stands now how often to we see dogs returned or passed from rescue to rescue and re-homed asap or homed from home to home with no assessment , a practice that seems more accepted day by day with the event of the internet ,free adds, even [ so called ] breeders advertising their returns free to a good home , a situation I find very disturbing Where do we go from here , I don’t know ,but I hope with no knee jerk reactions by the government , politicians , journalists and band wagon jumpers stirring up hysteria, making snap decisions and getting it wrong again , like hunting, tail docking , the new animal welfare bill, DDA etc . Like you I will now take a long hard look at what I do, and see where improvements can be implemented . Like others my love and passion for this breed is unquestionable but I fear we face an uphill struggle to see this breed still with us in the future .

  23. ZEPTHEDEP ROTTWEILER RESCUE. Charity nbr 111948. To all our supporters a Merry Xmas and a Happy and Prosperous 2008 Jan to Dec 2007 end of year NEWS LETTER. Well this year has had its highs and lows here at Z.R.R. The lows the death of our dearly beloved Barney, and Max a rescue we thought we saved from death row who was fostered by Velda , some of the other lows are the first time I saw the look of dispair in Chilli P’s eyes , and the sight of little Monty dragging a very limp and damaged rear leg, sights that have left a lasting impression on me. The highs, well there’s 100 of them the number of rotts re-homed this year ,a feat I never thought I could achieve, but I have been real lucky in the amount of support and encouragement I have received from our sponsors and rottweiler lovers everywhere, plus having some great people come on board here at Z.R.R , Im not going to name names, as I’m sure to miss someone and I don’t want to upset anyone ,but you know who you are guys , from people who foster , fund raise , home check ,help transport etc, to the REFUGE for allowing us to showcase our dogs and ask for help when it was needed , thanks guys The figures 32 rotts saved from dog pounds , death row or took on from other rescues all over the UK . A fact I’m proud of, that other rescues feel they can call on my rescue for help when needed ,and as they know if I can I will and so often do. 27 pups from 10 days old to 20 weeks. 41 dogs from private homes. And 1 honorary rott, a little staffy called J J. Total 100 rotts in 2007 which is equivalent to some 750 + home checks and 10,000’s of miles travelled by us all to find the right homes for the dogs , which is why there 100 rottweilers happy in new homes this year [ sorry to keep mentioning it but that figure has made my Xmas ] . Our meet and greets have gone great this year ,with bookings for next year filling up fast . Along the way we have picked up one or two awards at fun dog shows thanks to all the dogs and handlers doing what they do best ,looking good, behaving impeccably and showing the public that responsible pet ownership no matter what breed is what its all about, special mention goes to Cavan winner of rescue dog of the year in Sheffield and Spud [my own dog ] rescue dog of the year in N.E Derbyshire . Well what will 2008 hold for Z.R.R who knows ,all I hope is we can continue to help any rott we can, and continue to promote this wonderful loyal and loving breed of ours. To all , without your help and support we couldn’t of done it . THANK YOU Jon [aka zepthedep] Zepthedep Rottweiler Rescue
