cheryl33
Hey everyone Just after some advice. Father Christmas has very kindly agreed to get me a laptop for Christmas but I have no idea what to look for. This is what I am looking for: - one that uses Wifi - one that I can download/listen to music on - one I can use facebook/MSN etc - use Microsoft office for college work and stuff. I've got a budget of 300quid (Which isnt great I know) and one I have seen so far is this: http://www.very.co.uk/rf/vry/p.do/electricals/computers/10-in-n130-netbook?Ns=prod_in_stock%7c1%7c%7cprod_min_base_price%7c1%7c%7cscu_id%7c1&groupId=645852773&Nu=this_product&SNtk=&Np=1&SN=4294920661+154+85+4294955656&Ntt=645852773&D=645852773&Ntk=group_search&Dx=mode%2bmatchall&thisprod=645852773&N=4294920661+154+85+4294955656&Nty=1&Mis_item_id=15&Mis_item_loc_id=1&product=645852773&phsView=G&selectedImg=B954P_SP289_02_PR0EL.jpg any suggestions?x
Helly
When I was buying my netbook I looked at the one you just listed but opted for a slightly cheaper but just as good ASUS Asus Eeepc Both are a fair bit smaller than the modern day laptops though so you should be sure you want such a small machine
Fee
No recommendations for a laptop, but if you want fully licensed Microsoft software available at huge discounts to anyone at school or college look at Software for Students

merledogs
There is a full sized Acer on eBuyer for less than £300 or else there are a few refurbished ones here (both Compaq and Acer) for just under £300 I have just bought this one and am very impressed so far (but a bit more than you wanted to spend) Try and get one with Windows 7 on, I am v impressed with it. cycas
I rate Dell for laptops, and if you are happy to go with a mini sized one, there are quite a few in that price range, including one with Windows 7 and student Office : http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/laptop-inspiron-10?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&ref=lthp
BillyMalc
Hello, dragging this one up again, as my laptop has now reached retirement age I'm in two minds between an Acer and a Sony Vaio, am just wondering which Acer laptop the peeps have who recommended them? Also, if you have a Sony Vaio, which one have you got and would you recommend it? Basically i'm after pretty much the same as Cheryl: I'm looking for a laptop to surf the net on endlessly, save my pictures on, chat on MSN and watch DVD's/ youtube vids on - without it constantly stopping and starting - and use MS Word, at the moment to fire off a zillion job applications (this should really be at the top of my list ). Any recommendations much appreciated
