ReikiAnge
We can but hope! I'm still amazed by how many dog owners think he's great though
ReikiAnge
The first video with him “rehabilitating†the dog ... I think her comments apply to dogs in general though, not just wolfdogs. I dread to think what Max and Sno would be like had CM's methods been used on either of them.
Fee
To reply to the question posed in the thread's title - no not wrong at all It's very scary to think of the damage he could do to such powerful animals and what the results of that could be. It's bad enough that idiots want wolfdogs as 'pets' then can't deal with their normal behaviours without compounding the problem by bringing in CM to screw them up completely
Sarah B
I have a confession - I used to love CM. I had only ever seen (edited) clips of his training and thought "wow". Then I started watching the proper series after a couple of months and realised what an idjit he can be. I agree with the whole excercise thing -dogs need excercise and mental stimulation but they don't need to be harassed, shocked or 'flooded' into submission. I can't see how he is going to get away with some of his methods on wolfdogs And Scooby says Cesar Milan dogfood sounds nummy...
one.eyed.dog
I've not seen Ceaser Milan much but, managed to watch it for a whole week recently. What is wrong with his methods? The programmes I saw where positive out comes and there was no cruelty. The only thing I did not like was that one owner had a pinch collar on her dog and he made no comment about it. ailsas mum
Bet the one where he gets eaten by a wolfdog gets him his biggest audience ever , that clip would get more hits on you tube than Susan Boyle did. Terri

The programmes I saw where positive out comes and there was no cruelty. The only thing I did not like was that one owner had a pinch collar on her dog and he made no comment about it. I could be here all day listing the things I object to on his programme but others have already done it better than I can: Articles on Cesar / similar training methods: http://www.komonews.com/home/video/37440019.html?video=pop&t=a http://www.4pawsu.com/dogpsychology.htm http://www.4pawsu.com/cesarfans.htm http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/31/opinion/31derr.html?_r=2 http://www.bristol.ac.uk/news/2009/6361.html http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...CMGPHL9D1N1.DTL http://www.urbandawgs.com/divided_profession.html In short, he's a bully, he uses force and intimidation to scare a dog into do things his way, he routinely uses very strong aversives (the magic shht noise is conditioned to an electric shock collar), his 'dog psychology' is based on outdated, and flawed, theories that have been routinely exposed as such (see the Bristol Uni paper above). Watch the programmes with sound off, so that you're seeing properly how the dog is reacting rather than listening to the words - what he says and what he does are two very different things. Finally, any good trainer doesn't need the words 'Don't Try This At Home' - if a training method is dangerous then it's flawed, surely?

(# Experts Question Cesar's Approach) http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cg... (The Anti-Cesar Millan) http://www.4pawsu.com/cesar.htm (Cesar's Way [A review of Cesar's book]) Take a careful look at the dogs when they are with Cesar - some are obviously highly stressed out. Mr Millan does put good points across - encouraging excercise, neutering, encouraging people to go for rescue dogs etc but some of his methods really make me cringe Edited to add Rileyroo beat me to it... It's bad enough that idiots want wolfdogs as 'pets' then can't deal with their normal behaviours without compounding the problem by bringing in CM to screw them up completely The only objection I'd have to the wolfdogs eating Milan is that they might get a terrible stomach upset Other than that I completely agree with Fee: why can't people have "just" dogs? Why does it always have to be something special, just so that they don't just keep up, but have one over the Joneses I personally would have no desire to have a wolf hybrid. Yes, they are gorgeous looking, but they are animals who, in all likelihood, would be much happier in the wild, without any human contact, than being someone's prized possession who they can show off with
melissa
I just don't get the whole 'dominate' your dog thing & yes he does advocate rescue and tells some stupid owners that the reason their dog behaves in a certain way is because they don't exercise & dye them pink (yes I really did see a pink dog on there!)etc but he is way too harsh for me & his methods would never have worked with my 'scared of everything' Roly. Some episodes I have seen you can see the owners cringing & wanting to intervene
