I will be voting, especially as it is also a local election where I live. I am very worried that the turnout may be poor and that that will help certain parties gain influence. I'll be damned if I will let the sodding BNP get in in our area because I didn't bother voting

have to say though the BNP seems to be the only party that bothered to tell me they were standing and what their policies were which is poor in the extreme and is one of the reasons why I don't know who I'll be voting for.

I don't think we have a BNP candidate standing locally but I shall check when I vote later , in fact I don't know who is standing locally as I have heard nothing from any of them

I will be voting as I believe voting is very very very important and I wish more people did vote

GS who has always shared my views is for the first time in her life not voting as she says she is sick of the lot of them , no amount of pouting and begging on my part would budge her this morning ( I really do believe voting is that important because pouting at my mother is not advisable )

Like Kelly khanu I worry about who could get in if I don't vote and we may not be a perfect country but we do get the MPs we vote for and so many people in other counties cannot say the same

I am going to try GS again later :ninja:

Same here, the BNP were the only party to bother leafleting my house

I'll be voting Conservative again.

I'm voting - it's even more important, I think, to vote this time round because of the way the MEPs are allocated. Proportional representation means you're voting for a party, not a person, and the BNP stand a strong chance of picking up votes because of their appeal to fear / prejudice in this difficult economic times. They've been stirring up the resentment and preying on people's fears in order to get them to the polling booth. They know this is their best chance.

Any vote for a party other than the BNP decreases its chances of gaining a seat - and that's far more important to me than anything else.

I'm torn as to which way my vote will go but I absolutely will vote, and not for any of the UKIP / BNP types.

I have voted (well, with a polling station in my back room it would have been a bit off if I didn't :laughingsmiley: ).

I did seriously consider whether my considerable fecked-of-ness with the MPs at the moment changed my belief that your vote is one of the most important things you have a right to, but it didn't take long to decide that I would still vote. I've not voted for one of the major parties for quite some time, so I voted for my usual bunch, the Greens. I do that mainly to try and up their vote in the hope that it gets whoever gets voted in to put green issues further up the agenda.

If you don't vote, why should anyone listen to you?

I've been a good girl and been out to the polling station and voted.

I always vote, even for the very local town council elections.

I have always believed, rightly or wrongly, that you have no right to complain how things are governed if you don't go and put your cross on the paper. I instilled the same wisdom in my daughters and am pleased to say that they have also been out and voted this morning.

Don't vote, don't complain about what you get :D

I voted the Jury Party because I'm sick to death of the self seeking party politics in this country, something that I think is partially to blame for all this expenses fiasco.

Normally a left wing voter, much as I think Gordon Brown is a well-meaning person, he has been promoted to the level of his incompetence and has shown no real leadership qualities in the time he has been PM. He takes too long to make a decision in a crisis situation.

I would prefer a drunken Charles Kennedy to a sober Nick Clegg as leader of the Lib Dems, I think he's far more honest.

As for Mr Super Smarmy Cameron, with all his pontificating over the expenses, which he's only doing to gain political purchases, he would do well to take note of the AMOUNTS that have been claimed by Tory MPs. They've had their snouts so deep in the trough I'm surprised they were able to breathe.

I agree absolutely. :flowers: I'm a lifelong socialist, but the Labour Party hasn't had my vote for a while. I'll probably vote Green tonight.
