TaraMoochi
Hi all, I know quite a few of you know Tessie personally, and I'm sure some followed her rehoming too, so I thought you'd like to see some pics from her first hydrotherapy session today at Bath Canine Hydrotherapy. She had some physio with the lovely Lauren Foster who also specialises in canine and equine hydro - warning, high cute factor! xx She wasn't thrilled with the pool, but was much better and happyish on the water treadmill xx

rubysmom
aww bless her. Can I be nosey and ask why Tessie is having the therapy? I ask because ive noticed Ruby seems to be a bit stiff when she is getting up in a morning and is starting to struggle getting up and down the stairs and I was wondering if a bit of therapy would perhaps ease her old bones. buddyboy
Jake used to hate his hydro but I am sure it helped him...... if you imagine those elderly ladies who don't enjoy swimming but are determined to do so many lengths that was the set of his face! Mrs Mop
I am having computer problems and keep having to type this out, hopefully I will get it through this time. Both Merlin and Gracie go to hydro, it is the treadmill and I can't speak highly enough of it, it has made such a difference to them. Merlin's recovery after his spinal operation was incredible and now he only needs it for maintainance. No matter how much exercise a dog gets he can't exercise all the muscles the way that hydro does. 18 months ago I was praying that Gracie would live until after Christmas, my vets had just had a treadmill put in, they have since worn it out and have another now, they insisted on Gracie having an MRI scan first to make sure it wouldn't do damage as they suspected she had a tumour on her spine, it was a compressed disc. She also has arthritis in all 4 legs, feet, both shoulders and spine as well as crutial ligament problems. Gracie soon started to show a big improvement and now tries to keep up with Bonnie and Tilly as well as go up and down stairs if she gets the chance. She is more trouble than the other 5 put together. Gracie in the tank behaving herself for a change, she loves to play in their.
TaraMoochi
Awwww I love the pic of Gracie, what a sweet grey head! xx Tessie is having hydro as she has muscle wastage and nerve damage, so her legs splay out and walking for her back legs is difficult - I'm hoping it will build up some muscle just to help her on her way a bit more. We know she wont get full movement back (she'd be a power ball if she did!), but it should help, and if it helps even just a little, then its worth it for my sweet Tessie xx

TaraMoochi
Thanks Elaine, yes, I hope so, even just to build up a bit of muscle, Im sure people think I starve her!! If only they knew what a piglet she is! x
Mrs Mop
It will build muscle up but will take a short time, Gracie can now stand on her back legs, before she started hydro she struggled to walk.

ranirottie
bless her,she is such a sweetheart. You have done wonders with her Catherine. When she first came to me she could hardly walk at all,her back legs kept splaying right out and collapsing under her,she looked like a seal. I did massage on her and got her walking by using a towel under her tummy and she improved by the time she came to you but you have got her running and as mobile as she is.You are a very loving mum to her and she is a lucky girl..x Gracie looks so sweet Margaret, she is a real little fighter too.x Edited May 11, 2009 by ranirottie
