jezzabelleuk
I am posting on behalf of my sister in law because she is unable to deal with this herself. We are based in Fife Scotland. Bud is her 7 year old Stafford. She has had him since he 8 weeks old and was even there when he was born. Bud is a cool dog, very loving and always up for a walk. He even brings his harness to you when he wants to go out! He has never been aggressive or shown aggression and is a placid little soul. He loves to go for walks, play ball and sleep on the couch. He catches his tail often thinking he has 2 when he turns the other way to catch it! He is a big baby and loves his treats! Bud has been known to get along with other dogs but isn't too keen on the idea. Cats are a big no no if there are more than 1 of them in the household. He's always been fine around kids of all ages but I think he would thrive with older kids so he didnt have to be as gentle because if you know Staffords you know that gentle isn't a big part of their vocabulary! Please bear in mind that Bud wasn't subject to kids on a daily basis, just friends kids when they popped by and he was always tolerant and well mannerd with them. I'm not sure how he would react to a toddler screaming or pulling at him trying to give him a love. Now the reason for rehoming. Very sad really as my sis in law has broken up with her partner of many years. To cut a long story short she wasn't coping too good and had a lot of time off work where eventually she has had to leave. With no money coming in and the economy being as bad as it is she is losing her house and has no where to go. The council have given her a 1 bed flat which is good of them however there is a strict no pets policy. She moves in 3 weeks. To be honest if she has any chance of sorting herself out and getting back to work to get back on her feet she is going to be out of the house for long periods of time and this is not acceptable for the sake of Bud, he deserves more time and attention. She has been offered a job to work Off Shore with my husband (her brother) which I think personally will do her a world of good. Don't get me wrong she loves him so much and this is the reason why she knows she has to do whats best for him in the long run. She can't hold down a full time job living on her own and keep Bud because she will never be there for him and he will be spending far too much time on his own or ferried out to kennels if she starts working rotationally Off Shore. We all love Bud in our family and having lost our own Stafford last november my husband and I said we would see if Bud would settle with us, problem solved. Unfortunatly Bud doesn't like our 7 cats and there were numerous fights which meant if he stayed with us he would have to be segregated from them, this is by no means ideal. Bud couldn't go in the garden if the cats were out and they wouldn't come home when he was there. Our 19 year old cat was rough and tumbled by him which wasn't good for her old heart. Saying that my sis in laws old next door neighbour had a cat and he and Bud got on famously, I just think because we have 7 cats who have lived with a much bigger Stafford that Bud has felt intimidated by them all, you know what cats are like! Since my sister in law has made up her mind (which was weeks ago when the repossession order went through) she has been approached by many people where she lives regarding the 'staffie free to good home'. Its obvious for all to see these young lads only want Bud because of his breed so they can show him off like a status symbol and look good in front of all their friends. This is not how Bud has been brought up or treated, he was always treated like a baby and part of the family and she has said she would rather PTS before she let him go to anybody like that. Please can anyone help us? Bud doesn't deserve this and is a loving healthy boy. We are genuine. I wish I could have kept Bud with my family but with our cats and Frenchie its just not meant to be. Bud has been neutered, I'm not sure if he is up to date with his innoculations. We tried SSBT Rescue and are listed with them but they have no one able to take him right now. Is there anybody out there with a little space in their heart for a cool Stafford, you wouldn't regret it, he is gorgeous. Or maybe a rescue with space. Thanks for taking the time to read this. For some reason i can't get his photo on here. For any enquires or photos please feel free to email me on [email protected] Kathy

mole
Have you tried here http://www.sbtrescue.org.uk/ They will only take full bred staffs and not X's. Also see... http://rescuehelpersunite.forumotion.com/p...e-back-up-f161/ or another section on Private rehomings needing homes. Good luck
jezzabelleuk
Hi there I tried the rescue you mentioned a few months back but they said no because we we're out of the area and to try SSBTR. I have been in contact with SSBTR for a few months now and they still have no space for him. I will try them again today though and try and beg down the phone if I have to! I have also added Bud to the forum you sent me via the link. Thanls for your help. Kathy Edited May 4, 2009 by jezzabelleuk
mole
Also add him on this part of the forum as well http://rescuehelpersunite.forumotion.com/d...-new-homes-f43/ as you then will have him on both the direct home to home forum and the rescue space needed forum. It takes a while to find your way around.

TaraMoochi
Is it a possibility that he could be fostered until he found a home perhaps through the oldies club channel? Just a very tentative thought if this is an option??
cycas
OC foster team have been looking for a foster home for Bud, and he is on our waiting list as well as being advertised privately. Bud is in Fife, so it would be a very long transport run to bring him South, and Bud is not a good car traveller so it would be pretty hard on him. Ideally we'd like to find somewhere in the North of England, Midlands or in Scotland, but no luck so far. If anyone is interested in fostering Bud and can offer him a suitable environment, please do get in touch. Edited May 10, 2009 by cycas
