lil_angel
I had this dog come into me for grooming as a Westie but having put my pics up on a grooming forum they all said he looks like a Cairn. I did say he was the yellowist looking Westie i had ever seen but |I always thought Cairns were more of a greyish colour. I have been looking at piccies on google of the two and I cant decide. What do you think? Edited September 5, 2008 by lil_angel
Mags
Can't cairns also be a sandy colour? Hard to tell but nice westie cut I'm loving your grooming table, and not a bit jealous. Nope, not me

Dog Rescue Lover
Looks just like my Cairn to me, but with longer hair Cairns can be a variety of colours: cream, wheaten, red, sandy, grey, or brindled in any of these colours

suzeanna
If I remember correctly, westies as a breed were developed from cairns, simply by mating the light coloured dogs to each other. Therefore, it can be a westie AND a cairn!
lil_angel
You are right Westies were picked from Cairn litters and bred for their white coat.
Jay1
I would say its a wheaten cairn cross westie. My parents having had cairns for years, the cairns coat is coarser than a westie and that piccie shows the coat as quite soft.

Toffee is a pedigree Cairn and has a very soft coat cos she is faulty (not that I care)
