Smokey joined our family over 10 years ago from the RSPCA. She was a British Shorthair (although we didn't know it at the time!) - we just thought she was a blue colour and stunning. She had been found straying and she had a collar on when she was found which was too tight. Although once Sue adopted her she never wore a collar again, she always looked like she wore a collar because she had a permanent mark from the too-tight collar  She joined a household with 2 dogs (who were very accepting of having a cat in their household) but in her lifetime she then went on to live with at least 12 dogs (not including various waifs and strays or holiday visitors who come here from time to time). She used to show her displeasure if they decided to show any interest in her by screaming loudly and cuffing any dog within striking distrance  A very determined and feisty little madam. She mellowed big time in her dotage but was still quite capable of telling dogs where to get off

A few years ago she was diagnosed with a thyroid problem and had radiation to cure it. She had to stay at the vet's for about a month because she was too radioactive to come home

In the last few months, Smokey became more and more senile and lame - and you could tell that she wasn't really enjoying her life, she was just existing so today Sue took the horrible decision all responsible owners have to make at some point :mecry: :mecry:

Smokey - we will miss you so much. Please find Sophie and Elliott at the Bridge and play happily, free from all your aches and pains. Know that we truly loved you
