Bolo & Mitzi - Akita And Collie, Devoted Pair

Recommended Posts

Bolo is a 13 year old Japanese Akita and his friend Mitzi is a 14 year old Border Collie girl. They are currently in an Oldies Club foster home in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and they are looking for a new home through no fault of their own.

This is what their foster family have to say about them:

Bolo is a big softy who likes to give kisses! He is great with children, cats and other dogs although he doesn’t like to share his food. During feeding and treat time, he needs to be supervised to ensure there are no squabbles! He loves his food and will bark to tell you when he is hungry.

He is good on the lead and enjoys his walks and he is in great condition and very fit for his age. Everyone who meets him has commented on how handsome he is.

His partner in crime is Mitzi, a dotty girl whose tongue always seems to be sticking out in a cheeky manner. She just loves to play ball, all day if possible!

Mitzi is very laid back and usually takes no notice of the resident cat unless he runs, then she likes to chase him! She is great with kids, especially if they throw her ball! Did I mention that she loves to play ball?!

They will make a lovely addition to any family and they are both very devoted to each other and would need to stay together.

Bolo is neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, flea and worm treated. He also had a dental whilst in the care of Oldies Club and now has very sweet breath and just wants to kiss you all the time.

Mitzi is spayed, vaccinated, micro-chipped, flea and worm treated. She has had a dental too and had a good clean and a couple of teeth removed. Mitzi also had a lump removed from her back which turned out to be harmless, but better safe than sorry. Mitzi has also had a good groom, but it’s something she isn’t really keen on!

If you are interested in giving Bolo and Mitzi a loving new home together, please refer to our Adoption Procedures for information about the adoption process. You can then contact an Oldies Club rehoming co-ordinator as follows:

Email: [email protected]

Telephone: 0844 586 8656

Bolo and Mitzi can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, subject to a satisfactory home visit, but note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet them.

Just a little bump for these two, sadly we haven't had a single enquiry about them. They are lovely natured dogs who would fit into almost any type of home.

They have settled beautifully into their foster home, are great with the children and good with other dogs and cats. A perfect ready-made doggy family!

If anyone in the Cheltenham area can help give these two a boost by getting their poster displayed it would be much appreciated: http://www.oldies.org.uk/docs/Rehome_Bolo&...Mitzi_Mar08.pdf

We’ve had an update on Bolo and Mitzi from their fosterer: Mitzi and Bolo are a lovely pair and deserve a home of their own, they are good with all animals, they are used to chickens freeranging around them, they take no notice of the cat and they cuddle up with my dogs and they are good with children.

Bolo can be a bit bossy over the food bowl but usually just telling him no is enough - he will just walk away. Poor Bolo does suffer from faecal incontinence but as soon as he realises he is going he goes to the back door, so this isn’t as hard to manage as you might think. His tail doesn’t curl in the usual Akita way so whether he has had some damage to that area, or its just age, we’re not sure. He walks well on the lead, big and proud and attracts admiring glances, he is very fit for his age and is very gentle with everyone and everything, a big soft teddy bear.

Mitzi is a very laid back dotty girl, she is a bit stiff in her back legs, she is on liquid gloucosamine and we limit her ball play as she would go non stop till she collapsed if we let her! This seems to have helped her and she gets on the sofa OK! She has had a few harmless fatty lumps removed and she is still pretty spritely for her age though. Like Bolo, Mitzi is good on the lead.

These two have always been together and Mitzi in particular likes canine company to cuddle up with so hopefully a home can be found for them both so they can stay together for the rest of their lives.
