  3. Sorry I am a bit slow and have only just picked up on this...but... if you are talking about 21st March -that it is the Stafford Half Marathon on that date and if any of you will be trying to get through Stafford in the morning to get to the Chase it will be mayhem until after 12ish as some of the roads will be closed or blocked with runners.....I will be one of them! (see my other thread) I live quite near to the Chase so can advise on a few routes if required.
  4. Hello everyone At Christmas I sponsored an Animals in Need dog - Jakey a 9yr old Staffy. Jakey has been at Animals in Need a while looking for his new home, (a few years!) but because of his dog agression he is continually overlooked. Here is Jakey: Animals in Need have a number of dogs like Jakey who are long term dogs because Animals in Need do not discriminate as to breed, age, or 'issues'. They now want to build some 'luxury' kennels for these dogs so that no matter how long they have to wait for their new home, they can do so in some space and comfort. I want to raise some funds for 'my' Jakey so he can enjoy these facilities whilst he waits........I am running the Stafford Half Marathon on 21st March and hope you will sponsor me on Jakey's behalf. I have done a couple of 10k's but never a Half Marathon .....please sponsor me to help raise funds for a new kennel block for Jakey and his friends. Here is Jakey having fun when I went to visit him .. Please help him have some comfort whilst he waits....... To do so please go to my sponsor page http://www.justgiving.com/Kate-Lee-Jakeyandfriends and pledge your support P.S. Jakey is still looking for his new home if anyone would like to offer him one www.maxicare-dog-rehoming.org www.animals-in-need.org

  9. A little Elf has told me that any one who has sent a parcel to DASH rescue - they have been received...and a big thank you has been sent on behalf of the boys. Apparently there are christmas stocking hanging on the doors of the kennels ready for christmas day and I am hoping there may be pictures of that to see soon.
  10. She is beautiful I had the privilege of meeting Princess Tara Banana as we helped to transport her and she is one lovely lady. My OH was even smitten with her...walking her around the motorway service station as we waited for the link up and now he comes running when I say you have posted a new bit of news about her...I think I have a rival It is lovely to see her happy and settled with you...she was very bewildered the day we moved her. Keep up the good work....and lets hope it isn't long before she has a permanent home again. Good luck Princess x
  11. Billymalc, Thnak you very much for your sponsorship pledge...it is very much appreciated by me and the Poundies

    Book Club

I like the sound of that idea...do they someone overseeing it all on the other forum?
  14. Gosh thankyou - I am loving the doggy finger puppets and the mini doggy - although all them are great for craft ideas to make and sell. The dogs were just what I was thinking about though...in different colours so people could pick their favourite Precious Poundie or collect a set! Just need people to volunteer to make a few now
  15. Oooh yes so it is...hadn't noticed - perhaps thats a bit big then ..but anyway thats the idea but looks like I wil have to keep looking for a smaller pattern.
  16. Thats a great idea about the paste tables..will look into that. As for the knitting...I had an idea to have some little knitted dogs to sell as Precious Poundies..only small. I found this pattern: http://www.ivillage.co.uk/homegarden/homemaking/crafts/articles/0,,695942_711080-1,00.html but as I am not a knitter I don't know whether it is an easy one to do or not or maybe you knitters would have a better pattern...and of course I was hoping someone may be interested in knitting a few!
  17. Sanrosscot - thank you for the offer of cards, that is very generous. When I have some dates and places lined up I will get in touch with you all again - well in advance - so I can have some of your lovely goodies to sell - and hopefully will get to meet you Dianne! Are there any knitters out there???
  18. Hi Dianne and Lester, Thank you both for your kind offers. Dianne - would love to have you along to help at stalls..where are you based?...plus all the cards jewellry and glass as well..that would be fab Lester - I agree with Zico's mom the baskets look lovely and I would love to have some for the stalls and I would be really grateful for help with displays and banners etc. I have been trying to find some cheap (or free) display boards...the sort you see in offices..to use on the stalls and also so that I could just leave displays up at work canteens etc for dogs/ cats looking for homes...so anything would be appreciated. I haven't booked any shows yet..I am making my 'action plan' as they say...so getting it all ready so that when I see shows advertised that I could do I am ready to go. If anyone knows of any shows planned in 2010...big or small...in the Midlands area please let me know and I can start pencilling them in
  19. I have already decided on my new years resolution and 2010 is going to be my year for fundraising...I am planning on running a few stalls throughout the year, dates and places yet to be decided but I want to start gathering things together well in advance so that my stalls look interesting, smart and full of good stuff. My idea is that the stalls will be a mixture of promoting dogs looking for homes and promoting what the rescues do..along with the neutering message..but also to have craft goods on the stall to sell. So I am looking for crafty people who might be interested in donating things they make for me to sell to raise funds....handmade cards, knitted goods, wooden toys..anything really that you are good at making. If you are a knitter I am looking for people to knit liitle dogs... small like key fob size to sell as well. I will be raising funds for Oldies Club and Precious Poundies www.preciouspoundies.co.uk/ If anyone can help and/or would like to help me at the stalls (Midlands area) please let me know.
  20. SPONSORED 10K RUN FOR 'PRECIOUS POUNDIES' SUNDAY 27th DECEMBER 2009 What will you be doing on Sunday 27th December? Recovering from the Christmas festivities feet up, full of food, Christmas cheer (hic!) and good will? How about keeping that Christmas cheer and good will going?…..Dont worry no effort on your part is required, you dont have to move!!….All you have to do is sponsor me as I run the Wheaton Aston 10k on that day. All money raised will be donated to Precious Poundies. Precious Poundies work in conjunction with a Yorkshire dog pound to find responsible rescue spaces for dogs who have served their 7 days and have not been claimed. Dogs found as strays and taken to the pound are kept for 7 days After 7 days if no one claims them they are then in danger of being put to sleep, unless a rescue place can be found. Precious Poundies (all volunteers) works tirelessy to try and secure these places this involves calling rescues all over the country, posting on internet forums and using any other avenue available to highlight the dogs predicament. If a rescue space is found then Precious Poundies will work to arrange transport runs all over the country to get the dog taken to the start of it's new life. If a rescue space cannot be secured Precious Poundies will (when funds allow) pay for Emergency Boarding at £5.00 a night, in order to get the dog out of the pound and prevent it from being put to sleep. Precious Poundies will also keep the dog in Emergency Boarding until a rescue space can be found. So whilst sitting on your sofa over Christmas, if you sponsor me for: £2.00 this will help to cover some of the the cost of petrol for a transport run. £5.00 will keep a dog safe for a night £10.00 will buy the dog a safe weekend. If 200 people would sponsor me for £10….just £10 for the whole 10k (£1.00 a kilometre)….we could raise £2000…enough to fund a kennel and some transport costs for a whole year!!!! So instead of a another box of chocolates, another box of mince pies…..sponsor me for whatever you can and save a doggy life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please click on the link here to sponsor me http://www.preciouspoundies.co.uk/?page_id=49 Here are some of the dogs that Precious Poundies have already saved "][/url]
