Lymphoma

Bumpy has had the removed lump diagnosed as Lymphoma :( More tests are being done, but the vet said the cells are particularly nasty and he strongly suspects there are other groups of cell's in Bumpy's body.

Once the test results come back, the next stage will apparently be to decide which course of chemotherapy is appropriate, with advice if necessary from an oncologist.

I'd be very grateful of any experience or advice as I know very little about lymphoma. Bumpy will be 12 next month and outwardly looks his normal, fit and healthy self

So sorry to hear this :GroupHug:

I know there are different types of lymphoma (different cell types I think  ) and some respond well to chemotherapy, others don't. Our oldie had it but it was an aggressive type and detected quite late so we didn't chose chemo for him.

I'm sure other fugees will have more knowledge but sending you lots of positive thoughts and good luck :flowers: :GroupHug:

:GroupHug: I'm so sorry to read this Wendy. Not direct experience of lymphoma but when looking for information on Jo's mammary cancer I found a range of sites which you may find of help.

Chemotherapy does apparently help lymphoma go into remission in the large majority of cases. Sadly however whilst that remission can last years in others I'm sorry to have to tell you that it can be just a matter of months.

I wish you and Bumpy the very best of luck with your coming fight :flowers:

Wendy, have PM'd you :GroupHug:

Malcolm has been diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma and the vet said that, while it was a slowly progressing type of cancer, the results with chemotherapy were less than fantastic, and also when it would come back it'd be more aggressive. She basically advised against it, and I trust her opinion. For the timebeing Mal is absolutely fine btw :)

I'm sorry to butt in but can I ask when it was diagnosed and why you decided against chemo :flowers:

Because we'd not long since moved and she already had a touch of athiritis they wrote the symptoms off to those saying she was unsettled by the move and suggesting a dap diffuser and the slight limp she deleloped to the athritis, by the time it was diagnosed the limp turned out to be where the tumour had cut off the blood supply to her leg, which by that time needed amputation and they said even with chemo her chance of survival was not good (can't remember the %) So the vet advised I let her go, which I did and it was the hardest decision of my life :mecry: I still wonder whether had we not moved the outcome would of been different, as she'd of still been under the vet she'd been under for 8yrs and the "move stress" wouldn't of been, all I could tell the "new" vet is she wasn't right, she wasn't her normal self and she wasn't eating properly :mecry:

I vowed after losing her the way we did I was never ever having another dog....................................Guess I was wrong, I found the world of rescue (Chloe was from a breeder)
