Cassie And I Are Off To The Vets Today

I'm really sorry to hear this Helen. She's such a special girl. Vets always give a pessimistic opinion. They also never explain what they are talking about. When you can think more clearly do make a list of everything you want to know including in depth explanations of what they are talking about. Definitely have a word with Cinders as Snatchy has had to have several ops for removal of lumps. He has come through fine every time. Each dog is different of course. If it is an aggressive type I wonder if they removed a lot of cells surrounding the lumps or just the lumps? Is she insured as you may want to seek out a soft tissue specialist at some stage if you don't feel comfortable with your vet's opinions, knowledge and information. Just a thought. Hopefully your vet does know what they're doing and can help the little lady. Will have everything crossed and thinking of you all. :GroupHug: The not knowing is a toughy. My heart goes out to you.

Thanks everyone. Now I've had a little time to think I see that it may not be as bad as I thought :flowers:

If you think of things to ask before you go to the vets, write them down. My mind always goes blank when they say "Is there anything you would like to know?" Now I shove a bit of paper in their hands and say "Answer that lot!"

Friday, that's exactly what I'll do - thank you, really good advice :flowers:

I'm sorry you've had such worrying news, but it may not be as bad as you think. Callie had a 'very aggressive' mast cell tumour removed when she came to us (I think it is 'mast' and not 'mass cell' - just in case you are looking up information). The vet's prognosis was very guarded, but she plodded on for another two years and it was her heart that gave out in the end. I think vets often tend to give a pessimistic outlook rather than raise hopes.

That is soooo good to hear. Cassie is a little trooper and I do think she's the sort of dog that'll carry on regardless  . I did notice on my google searches that I might have got the spelling wrong

Thanks Michelle :flowers: Have sent Staffymad a PM for when she next has a minute spare poor love. I did wonder about that...i.e. how much tissue they removed. The scars she came back with indicate to me that they made quite an effort to get the lumps out as they are way bigger than the lumps ever where. I shall have to ask.

I am not insured but would not mind paying out for whatever she needed, it is fine. I'll see how Friday goes. The Jury's always been a bit out' as far as my vets are concerned.

Thank you also ReikiAnge, Tricks and Jo and also a big thank you to you Muriel - haven't had chance to read your links yet but will do so - I'm glad you posted them :flowers:

Now I have one more question, if anyone is around. I have mentioned this to Wendbert but decided not to to anyone else until now as I didn't want anyone thinking bad of my girlie. Lately, the last two weeks, she has got a tad aggresive. Not to me but a little with the other dogs and animals. Unfortunately a hen strayed into her path a week and a bit ago and she took offence and it is no more. She almost caught Bug a copule of days ago too. This is hugely out of character for her. I cannot stress that enough. I have talked to the vets about this. TBH they didn't give me any answers. I will bring it up again. My main concern is that this may be something to do with her being in some sort of discomfort, which is why they gave her a full MOT when they had her in. Other than the lumps and bumps, they could come up with nothing else.

Bet she'd love hands-on Reiki

That could be arranged, I'm sure :flowers:

Helen, I don't think animals tend to change their behaviour for no reason, so she might be feeling "different" in some way, even if she's not in pain. I would definitely bring it up again with the vet if she were my dog :flowers: And would agree with Muriel about trying a homepathic/holistic vet (as you know :)) :GroupHug:

I think it is a good idea too. Thanks so much for your PM Ange :flowers:

Hi Helen, how is our patient today? As I said last night, ring me anytime ok? :flowers: :GroupHug:

and thank you very much for your phonecall last night. It helped put a lot into perspective. Cassie is fine this morning. She had the remains of the OH's chicken casserole for breakfast and was quite happy about that!

Huge thanks also for your PM Michelle (Jacobean). Am about to repy to you.
