Another Collie Pup In Urgent Need Of Op

The RSPCA officer did take this one up, but to our annoyance the local vet who cared for her over the weekend is not prepared to bear witness to cruelty even though the leg was left untreated for a fortnight. The officer has decided to go and visit this woman and keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't get any more animals.

Dora was with the vet until yesterday. She is now recuperating with Jill and is doing well, but will be due further op once the leg has knitted to remove the metalwork.

Very glad to hear Dora is doing well :flowers:

I do not understand why a vet would not be prepared to bear witness to the cruelty this poor dog suffered  Vets are meant to be there to reduce suffering :( Good for the RSPCA officer pursuing this, even though they have faced barriers :flowers:

I know why, people are scared of certain characters in our community. He is probably scared of something belonging to him being vandilised or something nasty. We have some neighbours near us, had a late party last night, went on till 5 am this morning, their immediate neighbour feels they are into the wrong sort of deals one way or another because "he" has not been working for weeks, but still seems to be doing things as usual and having a party! Other neighbours are trying to pretend it isn't happening or sitting on the fence.

I don't believe that is necessarily the case here so will not hazard a guess.

Anyway, I spoke to Jill today and the pup has a plate AND a frame and wires coming out of the op site but is ignoring all this and just wants to play. She is confined to crate for the moment so very fed up. She has to have physiotherapy several times a day which vet has shown Jill how to do. She is on high potency arnica which seems to be doing her the world of good.

Jill isn't on the net but says she will send me some photos.

This happens far too often unfortunately and is the reason why a lot of cruelty cases don't get to court. I have known cases were animals should have been removed but vets didn't want to get involved. They loose money when they have to go to court to give evidence and that is what a lot are more interested in.

Well, you will be pleased to know that the vet who did the surgery is willing to provide the necessary reports for the RSPCA. I won't be discussing this again openly on the forum in view of possible court case, until there is a result.

Dora continues to do well but is bored, bored, bored. She has been very brave and as long as she gets cuddles she tolerates physio, examinations etc without a squeak. She is just so happy to be loved and cared for.

It's actually a different vet who is prepared to do a report. The vet who first saw Dora decided she needed more specialist surgery than coulds be provided locally, so pup was taken to the rescue co-ordinator's vet. First vet refused, specialist vet agreed.

I want piccies too, I haven't even seen the little mite and I am told she is luffly! Spoke yesterday to co-ordinator who has pics, so it's either a wait till I get them through the post or she says maybe someone local can email them to me, writing to see.
