JoC
I was browsing agilty net and found a club reasonably near me, where the owner specialised in anxiety, and was really into positive methods including ttouch. I gave her a ring, explained about Charlie and she seems fantastic. The dogs come first, the agility second, which is exactly what I wanted! She says they do a bit of agility, and a bit of resocialisation which is fantastic, and the upshot is, we're starting next thursday! I agreed to do overtime at work this thursday, curses It's going to be about an hours drive away (probably shorter the way I drive ) and I can't wait! It's a small club, all outside and I just know Charlie is going to love it. I'm practically bouncing off the walls here! We went into the garden to do some training to celebrate, which also went really well as Charlie has distinguished 'close' (walking to heel on my right) and 'heel' (walking to heel on my left) so we might even make a HTM dog out of him yet!!! Kimbas_mum
Sounds like a fab club, I just wish there were more clubs like that, obedience as well as agility. We expect lots of piccies when you go (not just a chance to ogle your gorgeous dogs, honest!!)
Sophie
Sounds really good. Sophie has been doing agility for about 8 weeks now, and last night I could really see how her confidence has grown. We still have to do it a bit differently from everyone else (noone else can hold her collar, she's not confident enough to do a wait and let me walk away from her, and she won't take food from any of the instructors so I have to be everywhere at once), but everyone is really patient with her and really supportive. shawnee
Hi JoC Could I be cheeky and ask where your new agility club is please, I think we are fairly near you? We probably wouldnt go for a while yet as Shawnee needs some seriously slow socialisation and are working with a fab trainer/behaviourist at the moment to help but I would love to try agility in the future, how near that future is, is anyones guess. Also Shawnee tends to do things at her own pace which is often slower than everyone elses , do you think this would be a problem? I guess I am saying, are they serious about agility in all classes or do they have a remedial class, specially for us (Shawnee and myself)!! Thank you JoC Lesley x
