  2. believe it or not so are the inland revenue they made a mistake, and have said as its their error, we won't have to repay them any money good luck KP
  3. good luck KP Glad to hear you are both ok Richard, we haven't got any spare cars anymore sorry, we finished the car business, otherwise you could have borrowed one, hope yours is driveable/replaced very soon for the poorly people, hope you are all on the mend very soon, and also for anyone thats in need of one we are off up to the farm now with Meg monster for a run around
  4. congratulations Sarah i have loads of washing out too gemstone, fingers crossed it stays sunny here, else i'll be innundated with wet washing again because i've filled the radiators inside as well Meg is liking the sun lots, she is sunbathing outside
  5. those were the years, i had great fun in that job there is also photographical evidence out there somewhere taken for use in training vets, and training students at a 'well known' equine college though i somehow don't see that experience gaining me a job in the local tesco's cafe
  6. thanks gooster, i'm too old now to start again with horses, i also value my comforts too much, but i suppose if needs must and all that, i could, i was thinking more of a 9-5 monday to friday type job, at least until the kids are a bit older. i shall ponder some more, and see what happens
  7. all my schooling was done back home in NZ, so i have school certificate, which i suppose is similar to gcse's? jobwise, my first job was as a jockey, then stallion handler, sperm collecter/artificial insemination co-ordinator/stud manager (i loved that job!) and eventually ended up working with 3 day event horses. i worked in a bank as lending officer then moved to mortgage collections, for 3 or 4 years back in the 80's, but no idea what the dates were, or how many years i worked there, also did evenings at asda for a bit, and part time in superdrug between major jobs, but since i had the kids i haven't worked at all, other than help Alan out as and when, because he/we had a garage/ car body shop place. there is no way i'd get a job as a jockey anymore, i'd have to loose at least 10 stone to even get through the door stallion handling i could do, but alas there are no stallions in need of handling round here so as you see i have some qualifications, but nothing relevant really to getting a proper job
  8. :clapping: nite magwai oooh, while there are cv people about, how do you go about writing one if, a) you haven't worked for over 10 years, b) you have no relevant qualifications for the job you want, and c) the qualifications you do have are now obsolete i'm looking to go back out and work, but the cv part puts me off applying for lots of jobs
  9. ooooh, yes i have, never thought of that, thanks Yantan
  10. rmf: My neck is sore, it feels like i have very bad sunburn on it Alan said its all red and fiery, it was fine till i washed my hair this morning, i am now wondering if the shampoo has burnt my skin? I've put aloe vera after sun cream on it, (because i couldn't think of or find anything else), but it's not helping, anyone have any ideas that may sooth it? no idea Yantan, but good luck for tomorrow, hope the tests go ok
  11. for Amber and anyone else wanting one, hope things pick up and look lots better, very soon. random mundane fing: Meg decided that because the door was shut, and she was outside, she would jump through the window instead of asking for the door to be opened shame the window was shut as well i now have a 'bolloxed' back garden that resembles a derelict bomb pocked wasteland, and a back door window thats held together with gaffer tape............. lovely! I bet the neighbours love us living here and upping the tone of the neighbourhood tomorrow i shall mainly be getting new glass to fix the back door.
  12. morning nice picture Sniffers, well done i'm afraid at that point in the race i'd not have been upright, or awake, infact i'd probably have been comatose in the back of an ambulance before the first mile mark for George, and Yantan, hope hes feeling better today Hope you managed to get some sleep and get up in time for your flight Helly? happy holidaze for those needing them tis lovely and sunny here today, with a nice bit of wind for drying my washing, thanks Melp if it was your wind do hope you remembered to filter it though we were at school at 8.40am today

    smelly ears?

thanks Pingu, both ears are the same, and there is no redish waxy stuff, they are clean, nothing there, they just smell a bit 'different' she is back at the vet again next week for stitch removal, so i'll get them to have another look, and ask again about the smell. i probably do just have a smelly dog suppose ear smell is a lot better than rear smell, so thats something to be happy about!

    smelly ears?

Meg is a staffieX something with long legs, poss whippet/ greyhound, when we got her at about 12 weeks, her ears were manky, and full of dark brown gunk, they smelt bad too, she was scratching them a lot, i cleaned them, and when she went to the vet for her vaccs, got him to check them, he said they were fine, nice and clean etc, no problem. on and off ever since her ears have had a musky type smell to them, definately not bad smelly like when she first came, its not offensive or innofensive, its just something i can smell on her they are clean, and she doesn't scratch or bother with them. she is now about 6 months, and a few weeks ago, i did wonder if she was deaf, but apparently not, she was speyed on monday, and while under i asked the vet (different one) to look in her ears, and make sure they were clean deep down, they came back all clear, he said no problems, but i can still smell them any idea on how i can combat smelly ears? or what the cause might be?
