  8. What about trolley tokens??? I have no idea how much they cost to make but they usually sell at £1 or £2 each so they can't be that expensive. I know some of the other dog/animal charities sell them.

    Barking Mad

I have been thinking about setting up a home boarding business (as I will be made redundant in the not too distant future) but specifically for older dogs, dogs over 7yrs. Parrtly because I love Oldies, partly because I believe there is a need for it. Haven't got round to doing anything about it yet but am going to give it more thought. No way would I expect owners to leave their dogs with me if they didn't know where I live or what my home was like, nor would I expect them to pay a registration fee and £29 seems extortionate!! Shame we live so far away from each other, I'd have been more than happy to look after your dogs
  10. Wonderful news - happy forever home ickle Susie xx
  11. He looks gorgeous and it would be fantastic if he got a home so soon. FIngers crossed for him xx
  12. Jules I am so sorry for your loss. When I lost my Tess last year I felt the same way - completely bereft, lost, confused, wished I hadn't had her put to sleep, felt I'd done it too soon, done it too late. The worst feeling was wanting her back but knowing that was never ever going to happen. I cried buckets, I held her photo and cried, held her toys and cried and couldn't go to work for 3 days. Tremendous feelings of guilt but deep down I knew I had done what was the best for her - and that was the only thing I could do because I loved her so much. I started a notebook the next day, things that kept coming to mind about her so that I would never ever forget anything that made her so special. It did help, it made me laugh remembering good/happy things and it made me cry because I'd lost her, but ultimately it meant I had something that eventually I could look at and be happy fthat she had come into my life - even for a short time. I hope you soon feel some comfort but for now just take care of yourself and know that lots of people understand how you feel and that you are not alone
  13. Well done Lynne. Stall looks great - do you put the gazebo up yourself?? I've tried with mine but couldn't manage it!
  14. hope Tess is continuing to improve - love and good thoughts to you both xxx
  15. The walk was fine but very wet, only took 1 pic and that was well after the event, you can barely see Silk's bandana!! Rained most of the walk and although was cool wasn't cold but could have been better for us humans, but probably good for the dogs!!! Apparently 19,000+ people registered, so that's 19,000+ people all taking at least 1 dog!!! There were quite a few stalls there as well but didn't spend too long at those, also a dog show but the organisation was far from good, too congested at the registration desk so didn't bother to enter any classes - which was a shame. Silk was very good considering she's not used to so many people/dogs and it was very noisy at the start of the walk. Becky, Cheryl and I are hoping to have raised about £350 between us, and a couple of people I sent entry/sponsor forms to did actually attend although they didn't meet up with us, so maybe a little bit more on top of that for Oldies - providing it gets to Oldies!!!!
  16. I certainly wouldn't pay anything. Daisy acted in self defence. If it were you, would you have waited 3 years to fix your gate, knowing that your dogs rushed out and harrassed any dog walking past, minding their own business. Would you feel that you as the owner of those dogs was responsible - yes you would be, so it is not Daisy's, nor your, fault. Hopefully the owner, if not the dog, has learnt her lesson. It's awful to think that your dog has hurt another but you have to consider the circumstances as to how it happened - not Daisy's fault!! Hope she's ok, no doubt didn't enjoy the experience either! 17. Your poor daughter, what an awful experience for her. And tragic for the families who have lost their loved ones.
  18. Poor Cocoa - such a worrying time for them. Hope he recovers, love to his foster family:GroupHug: who no doubt will be worried sick
  19. Every contribution is very gratefully received so please don't apologise and say it's only a small donation - it all adds up and if everyone donated one pound we'd be rolling in it!! Your support is greatly appreciated xx
  20. ooooo - it cut me off mid-stream!!! I was saying: Ginny and I were couch potatoes which Silk most definitely isn't!!
  21. I've only got a couple of pics at the mo - I'll definitely take some on Sunday on the walk - thanks for your donations!! Silk is almost 8yrs old, 8 on 30 June. She is an ex-show-ex-breeding black and white small collie bitch, in some ways alike to my precious Tess but not so you would think - oh she's just like her. Silk had her last litter in March and then her breeder (Locheil Border Collies) wanted a retirement home for her. I had been told about Locheil by a vet nurse I know as I was asking if anyone knew of any small collies needing a home so I got in touch and the rest as they say is history. She's quite a placid girl, seems to have settled really well, but a bit nervy as everything is very new to her she's been living in the highlands of scotland and pretty much an outdoor girl so lots of everyday things are quite strange to her. She's a quick learner and has already learnt to give a paw and is on her way to "fetch", she loves her ball!! Just as well, I'm going to have to start jogging just to keep up with her!!! Unfortunately Ginny and I were quite
  22. Please find below the link to my just-giving page for the GNDW for anyone who would like to sponsor me. I've had 3 donations already which I think is a good start! http://www.justgiving.com/Olive-Armstrong The picture on my page is of Tess who did the walk with me last year, despite recovering fron vestibular she did the majority of the walk on her own 4 legs, however, she was in a pushchair for a small amount of time, to help her finish the walk!!! This year I'll be completing it with my newly adopted Silk, a young-oldie (she's eight on 30 June).
  23. well there are 3 definites turning up, but potentially 10 in total. Just whatever you can spare would be great, thanks.
  24. that's fantastic! well done. where'd you get the sashes - they're great, would be perfect for the great north dog walk next week.
