  1. Lovely Lana, this girl broke every heart here when she arrived into our care back in November. Lana was given up to rescue once she was no longer required to feed her last litter of pups. Lana was emaciated, depress & had almost given up the will to live. She had never been for a walk in her life, she did not understand the companionship of humans could be positive & enjoyable. It was a struggle to get her to walk out of her kennel, she would just hide in her bed at the back. Even during the early days here Lana for all she has been through has NEVER shown any sign of aggression. With firm but gentle handling Lana has blossomed into a beautiful girl. Lana now enjoys her walks, she will chase toys in the playpen & has started to retrieve. Lana adores being cuddled & fussed, her confidence is growing daily. Although we will all miss her very much here we have decided the time is right for her to try to find her forever home. Lana is fully vac'd. She is due to be neutered on Tuesday 9th December. As you can see Lana is fine with cats. She also travels well in the car. Lana would benefit from a home with an experienced handler purely to be able to continue with her training. She has so much to offer. Please call us for more indepth details. on arrival with Basil, 1 week later Lana now
  2. Poor Henry, we were saying at the weekend they are 7 months old now! Its flown past.
  3. Looks like madan has made herself at home! Was lovely to meet you today Marian & of course your handsom boy. Thank you for giving Missy/Fleur the chance of a lovely life
  4. Depending on how soon you want to start you are welcome to come spend some time here once ours is set up.
  5. I suffered with my back. As part of your training you will be shown how to lift, also electric tables are great. I had mine set up so that onceit was fully up the dog could walk off the table & into the bath so no lifting at all. It is a very rewarding job, no two days the same! There are some very good courses at agricultural colleges that dont cost the earth & give you a good insight into grooming.

    Tabbys Story

A few new photos of Tabby taken today. She met Basil again, he arrived the day before her. She also met Gizzy and ex Mill dog who visits lots. She does seem to like to boys! She had a little wag when Gus the black lab passed her on the lane. She was not very impressed by a passing van & also a push bike but then a plane flew over quite low & didnt seem to bother her. She is now almost solid which makes those morning snogs a lot more plesant! She is happily eating dried food. A gem on her lead, loves the camera as you can see, think she was a super model in a previous life. At many times she seems like a normal young dog & then you remember the awful start she had. She still enjoys running around her kennel with her bed in her mouth, will try to get a video of her in bulldozer mode! Behaviourist is coming out to see her this afternoon. Meeting Basil Meeting Giz Smiling again Tummy tickles
  7. Tabby has arrived. She is a very sweet little girl. She has met quite a few of the farm animals & taken it all in her stride. She has also met a kitten and was not bothered at all. She loves cuddles! At present she is bulldozing her kennel! Will update more over the next few days. Thank you to everyone who has helped her along the way.
  8. Tabby is due to arrive here about lunchtime today. I shall get some pics of her then.
  9. I have offered to do tags with oldies club logo on one side & dogs details on other side once the machine arrives back, which I hope will be in the next week or two.
  10. If you hand strip at the right time, you wont cause any pain to her. It may be worth you finding a decent groomer who can show you how to do it, its not hard. What area are you in?

    Clipping

I keep my Beardies quite short now when its very hot or rake all of the thickness out(coat not head, sadly) When I was at college, we used to clip Collies out on a regular basis they seemed much happier! Go for it.

  15. My planning is doing fine thank you. Buy a brick is not operational at present, as paypal not working. Pip was in a local vet but they did not do out of hours care. He needed a course of treatment over a period of 3 days including overnight stays in vet. His home wanted to return him to us for this treatment which they did during the evening he was booked into the vets to start his treatment the next morning at 9.30 but you already know that. He died in one of the girls arms on the way to that appointment.
  16. The buy a brick idea came from one of our supporters who felt it was a good idea to raise awareness of what we are trying to achieve & also raise some funds. Going back 12 months ago when all of this started I had huge requests for infomation from rb about our finances, which I was stupid enough to send him. He has a list of amounts sent to us through paypal, it was a couple of hundred pounds. I also gave him my vets phone number, they had a conversation that lasted about 25 mins, 4 mins spent talking about Mill, the dogs & other animals here, the rest was about our finances. It has taken longer than we expected to build here but again as I am sure many of you have read on dp's we were made bankrupt because the £200,000 that was owed to us by another company was not paid hence we could not move forward with the plans for here. Pip died, he died with us in our arms & no one could be sadder than me about that. He had seen many vets & yet he still died. Are we the first or the last rescue to have a dog die? I doubt it very much, sadly. I have learnt a hell of a lot over the last 12 months, we have a new vet & have moved forward. We have stood accused of so many terrible things, so many lies have been told. I am just very saddened that RDR(who we have no personal ties to & have never worked with) are now the latest victims. It seems very sad when they stand for just what dp's was set up to promote English poundies.
  17. Is a lovley boxer boy of 7+ years. Abraham was picked up as a stray & taken to the pound. He is still fit & active for his age. He is rather strong on his lead but much better wearing a body harness. Abraham is very well behaved in the car. He does get confused sometimes & thinks he is a lap dog! He has a problem with eyes called Panis, this means he will need to be on drops for the rest of his life. They are not expensive, about £4.00 per month. He is due to go back to the vet next week for a dental. Abraham is neutered, fully vac'd, chipped, wormed & frontlined. Abraham has now had an extensive dental. He also walks much better on his lead now, he still gets excited at the start of his walks & insists on stopping half was for a cuddle or two. At this time of his life he deserves to be in a loving home, not a kennel. Abraham is still quite scared of larger males dogs to start with, he does love little ones though. He has waited for such a long time now that he is starting to show signs of stress. There will be no adoption fee requested for Abraham, although a donation would be appreciated.

    Rick

Rick has gone off to a lovely new home, he is now living with Galen a staff x boy who was with us last year.

    Cole

Poor cole is still waiting for a home of his own. He almost had one this week & then because he has some Rotti in him the new homes son in law said her grandchildren would never be allowed to visit again. Cole is a lovely boy, he adores children & will play ball for hours with them. He is now fully housetrained, walks nicely on a body harness.
  20. That is a very interesting point. At the time I had calls here from people who had adopted dogs from us who were most upset that the persons that had carried out home checks for us had contacted them to ask them to join dp to slate us. These are people who were not even members. Another tasteful incident was a couple on a low income paid their donation by a post dated chq, for about a month/6 weeks later. A mod from dp phoned them & told them to cancel the chq. This was for a dog who we had neutered, vac'd, chipped & had also had an extensive dental.
  21. Firstly Coryn I am sorry that RDR have been dragged into this. It has been over 12 months now since our open day was crashed by a very rude member of dp & allegations making us out to be cruel, heartless dog dealers amongst other things. On top of this our private lives got plastered all over the internet. There was no regard for my family or my children, for all of the staff & volunteers who had worked so hard. So many lies were told by people who didnt know us & had never visited here. I also felt at the time that without the support of dp that we would have to close as it was the main forum we used for posting our dogs, again that was out of fear that if we posted here we would be thrown off there. Now 12 months on, its the best thing that could ever of happened to us. We have gone from strength to strength & I am sure RDR will do the same. As has been mentioned already it is a shame when forums set up to help dogs are so counter productive.
  22. Lovely pics. HenryNo is growing lots!
  23. Little Sally came into my life just 2 months ago. She weighed just 2,5kg, the tiniest Jrt you could ever see. Although she was small she had a fighting spirit & I was sure we could get her through. We managed to get her up to 3kg, I was so pleased. She was still full of beans although she would not eat much. She went back to the vets yesterday, as she had stopped gaining weight, he diagnosed her with chronic liver failure & he put her on to anti b's & steroids. This morning she was like a pup running around the yard with my others. This afternoon her breathing seemed laboured, we went back to the vet. Once again he advised us to pts, he felt there could be tumours on her lungs too, we had x rays done & these proved our worst fears. Shortly afterwards it seemed as though she was choking & was struggling so much to breathe we had to let her go. Sally was a very special little girl, everone who met her adored her. She was only 7 years old but had been starved for so long, it was just impossible to to save her. I feel very honoured to have had this little girl in my life, even if it was only for a short time. I loved her so much. Sweet dreams Sally, have fun at the vridge till we meet again. I love you.
  24. I have just lit one for Sally, my little oldie who left us this evening. She was only here for a short time but I loved her so much. I have never had to stand in the vets & have one of my own put to sleep.
