  1. I have chooks and 3 quacks. My chooks are approaching 5/6years old and we have lost some of them. Like has been said I think that the average age is about 6 years of course commercially most dont make anywhere near this age and are lucky to see 1 year old!!. If anyone wants hens why not think rescue contact the Battery Hen Welfare Trust and rehome some ex bats. Its very rewarding these poor hens have never done real henny things, never dust bathed, never seen the sun or felt it on their bodies, they come out of the battery with pale large combs, some have few feathers and they look pitiful. After a few weeks they soon find their feet they still lay eggs and have a real zest for life. Think rescue. http://www.bhwt.org.uk/

    'fella'

Poor cat Jackie, there has been a lovely kitten very young killed on the road here last Saturday I think that there are a lot of farm kittens out and about at the moment. Also a lot of less than careful drivers! RIP Fella
  5. Cats here can lie there deteriorating for weeks my friend puts them on the verge and has in the past if they are still there in a week or so with no chance of anyone claiming them taken them herself and buried them. Lots of feral and farm cats in this area.
  6. I had two Dogs Trust foster dogs both brothers and both poodles. They also showed some of these signs as they got older and eventually lost their hearing and sight through cataracts. They used to get 'stuck' in corners and wander arouns and bark seemingly for nothing. Its all part of them growing old. These 2 both had heart conditions and were on tablets daily for this. I loved them both dearly and still miss them now they were real characters. I do hope that you find a solution my 2 slee in the kitchen with no chance of hurting themselves.
  7. Lovely thread Jacky, we should get some photos of mine and yours when we go out walking. We should have taken some last week on Parys Mountain thats different! Anyway anyone wanting a dog friendly cottage in Anglesey try mine. www.thestablesanglesey.co.uk

    Jasper Pictures

Jackie its a whole week now since we delivered Jaspling to you. It sounds like he is settling in well. We do miss him here but I am sure he has now found his niche with you and Pete. Great to hear that you are giving him some no pressure training I know he is a quick learner and will do anything for the promise of a game of ball. I am so glad that he has found such a good home and have no doubt at all that he is well loved. PS Give him a kiss and hug from Steve and I. XXX
  11. Jasper has now found his new home. He is now living in Norfolk with his lovely new owners and an elderly GSD. I was nearly one of those people who are 'failed foster parents' but after a lot of soul searching I know that he will be loved and has gone to a lovely new home my loss I know. I also know that I took him from a less that ideal situation and he has found a lovely new home. Thankyou to everyone for your support and well wishes from me and from Jasper. x
  12. I will be travelling over to Norfolk in the near future so could pick up and drop off in Holyhead as well anything over that way.
  13. Update on Jasper. He is now with me in foster and I am now able to give a better idea to any prospective owner of his nature. He has settled into a situation here with 4 other dogs (and a cat) of various sizes from a small yorkie to a male castrated lurcher. Jasper has been the perfect house dog no accidents and he has been left for up to 4 hours at a time. He loves his walks and loves to play ball. He is cat friendly and we keep chickens and ducks and he has shown little interest in them although they do live in a penned area of their own. His recall is good and he shows no interest in other dogs the only thing I can mention is that he is toy possesive and does not give up his toys/balls easily. He will on his own terms drop the ball and roll it to you with his nose when he is ready!! Considering how he has lived these last few months I am prepared to forgive him that little thing. He is very loving but in the same instance does not demand attention. He loves the car and after an initial whine as you start off soon settles down. Car to him means walks. He is learning to walk better on the lead with the help of a halti he learns quickly. He has been to the beach here and loves to swim even with the recent cold weather. If anyone would like to ask me anything else please dont hesitate. He is a lovely boy and just needs a break and his own forever home
  14. Update on Jasper - he has been neutered and he is approx 7yrs old. He is however very sprightly hence the origional age of approx 4yrs. Still looking.
