I'm not much of a gardener but I would like a bit of advice please.
I have a small back garden which I covered with pea gravel a few years ago. I prepared the ground by laying a weed-proof membrane first before the pebbles were laid, but grass keeps springing up, to the extent that I almost have a lawn now . I bought some Round Up weedkiller last weekend, intending to get rid of the grass, but on the bottle it says "Keep away from pets". Someone has told me that if I spray the Round Up last thing at night, it will have dried by morning and will be ok for the dogs to go on. Is this true? If not, I will have to buy a pet-friendly weedkiller. Once I've got rid of the grass, I need to order some more pebbles to replace those I have lost due to poo-picking over the years
Also, I have a lovely Magnolia Tree. At the moment, it's coming to the end of its blossoming time. It is very overgrown and I would like to trim it down a bit. Is now a good time to do that or should I wait for the autumn?
